As a GVI Education Coordinator in Cimarrones, Costa Rica, you will work on our community development programs which aim to empower local community members in different areas, as well as guide and train our international participants.
This role will also assist with daily operations of other projects, including community development activities, and will assist with base and volunteer management.
What does the life of an Education coordinator in Cimarrones look like?
Lesson planning with volunteers
Teaching when necessary or low on volunteer numbers
Training and supervising volunteers
Health and safety of volunteers (a responsibility of all staff)
Helping to develop projects and bring in creative ideas for growth
Assisting with administrative work, including reporting and scheduling
Maintaining social media
Acting as an enthusiastic role model for volunteers and providing guidance and mentorship
Adopting a flexible work approach that will include working weekends and evenings where necessary
Assisting with the daily running of the hub, as well as picking up and welcoming new volunteers
Meeting local partners and maintaining good relations
Representing GVI at all times whilst in Costa Rica
Assisting the line manager to ensure that the programs continue to operate to a high standard for both volunteers and project partners
TEFL certification and/or experience teaching
Spanish fluency would be an advantage
