The Reproductive Health Educator, as a member of the Atlanta Health and Wellness Team, collaborates with IRC staff from the Atlanta, Salt Lake City and Tallahassee offices to replicate the Health Improvement Project (HIPTeens), a pregnancy prevention program that has been proven effective through rigorous evaluation (https://teenhealthpartners.org/). The Reproductive Health Educator is primarily responsible for recruiting refugee girls aged 12-17 for program participation, implementing the program with fidelity, and carrying out data collection activities.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Participates in project team trainings with HIPTeens curriculum developer
  • Collaborates with staff and curriculum developer to adapt HIPTeens for cultural and learning context of refugee girls
  • Recruits refugee girls for participation in HIPTeens Sessions 
  • Conducts consent and assent processes with refugee parents and their daughters, respectively
  • Co-facilitates implementation of at least three (3) curriculum replications through October 2021 (each replication consists of 4, 2.5 weekly Saturday sessions)
  • Completes and submits health educator session feedback, logs and audio session logs
  • Develops and implements strategies to encourage program attendance and retention
  • Assists with connecting participants to semi-structured interviews 
  • Participates in team meetings to debrief on project implementation
  • Participates in trainings conducted by MITRE, the project contractor
  • Other duties as assigned
