The Housing and Logistics Specialist secures and furnishes housing for newly arriving refugee families and provides logistical and operational support to the resettlement services team.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Conduct targeted outreach to potential property managers with goal of increasing access to appropriate housing for newly arrived families; maintain ongoing relationships with existing property managers to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships between housing providers and IRC.

•Secure safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for all newly arriving refugee families.

•Coordinate logistics of apartment set-ups, including ordering furniture and supplies and arranging delivery.Arrange for utility hook-up.

•Provide housing orientation to new arrivals.

•Ensure new families have appropriate digital access upon arrival, including low-cost or subsidized internet and devices/technology to access services remotely as needed.

•Implement a high-quality procurement protocol including researching potential new vendors, ensuring appropriate financial and purchasing procedures are followed, and maintaining required documentation.

•Ensure furniture and household goods donated in-kind are distributed to new arrivals in a timely and equitable manner.

•As a member of the casework team, assist when needed with airport pick-ups, 24-hour home visits and home and personal safety orientations.

•Coordinate client home repair requests with landlords and property managers; track resolution of concerns and document accordingly.

•Assist clients with lease signings and renewals; arrange for interpretation as needed.

•Ensure compliance with case file management and reporting requirements and assist with ongoing case file quality assurance review.

•Supervise assigned volunteers, interns, and work study students.

•Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

•Undergraduate degree strongly preferred.

•Minimum one year of relevant work experience.

•Demonstrated ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.

•Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff and external parties in a multicultural environment, ideally with some experience working with refugees or immigrants.

•Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

•Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.

•Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.

•Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

•Valid driver’s license, reliable access to vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area

Working Environment:

•A combination of standard office environment and ‘field’ time in and around the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

•May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
