Education Research Associate

The Education Research Associate will report to the Education Unit Manager. The junior consultant will provide programmatic and administrative support to the Education technical team, with a specific focus curriculum mapping. This is an entry-level, short-term, position where the candidate will directly aid in the completion of the team’s numerous deliverables by providing a variety of support types.

Tasks may include:

Research

•A systemic review and documentation of measures related to key themes and outcomes identified in our education research agenda

•A thematic synthesis of previous research evidence generated by IRC’s educational projects around the world

•Identify key research partners (institutions and individuals) in the countries where we are conducting research or have ambitions to conduct research

•Conduct research on existing polices and educational practices to further our current projects. This research includes:

oExisting policies and practices to provide teacher professional development for teachers in EiE (Emergency in Education) settings

oExisting policies and practices to identify, recruit, deploy teachers in EiE

oExisting policies and practices to promote social emotional learning in EiE

oExisting policies and practices to identify and support low performing children at risk of dropping out of school

oExisting policies and practices to promote teachers’ motivation and wellbeing in EiE settings

•Desk research on World Bank ECD projects in fragile conflict violence, and/or U.S Government mission level support for ECD to further identify national demand opportunities to explore. Compilation of research and messaging in one document.

•Sorting old SEL literature reviews, journal articles, other research

Communications

•Support in lead up to multinational nurturing care framework meeting, donor championship, and communications push around World Refugee Day & parenting month

•Assist in maintaining a list of key external education contracts for communication dissemination

•Perform administrative tasks as requested

Job Requirements:

Education:

•In pursuit of Associates or Bachelor’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

•Demonstrated interest in education and humanitarian work or refugee relief

•Excellent organization skills and hyper attention to detail

•Excellent oral and written communication skills

•Independent worker who is extremely flexible, a creative problem solver, and comfortable working with limited information and ambiguity

•Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Google Docs; plus for experience with Outlook, Teams, Airtable, and any company-wide file system

Experience:

•International experience a plus

•1 year of work experience required, which could include a combination of professional internships, work study, etc.

Language Skills:

•Native or fluent English
