Organizational Setting

 

The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.

The Division of Human Health is organized into four Sections whose objectives are to enhance the capabilities of Member States to address needs related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health problems through the development and application of nuclear techniques within a framework of quality assurance.

The Applied Radiation Biology and Radiotherapy Section's primary objective is to enhance Member States' capabilities to establish sound policies concerning radiotherapy and cancer treatment, and to ensure the effective and efficient utilization of current and future advanced cancer radiotherapy treatment technologies.
 

 

Main Purpose

 

As a consultant of the Applied Radiation Biology and Radiotherapy Section (ARBR), the Radiation Oncology Consultant contributes specialized technical knowledge and experience towards radiation oncology and global health through provision of advice on publications, learning materials and enhancement of collaborations with partners and stakeholders.

 

Functions / Key Results Expected

 

The Subscriber shall\: 

  • Develop educational material for the UN Joint Global Project on Cervical Cancer and Control;  
  • Provide technical advice for the publication on setting up a cancer centre, and other publications as required; 
  • Coordinate inputs for grant sourcing. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Clinical and Radiation Oncology

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Advanced degree in Radiation Oncology
  • Minimum of five years of experience in clinical radiotherapy
  • Experience in medical scientific writing in the field of radiation oncology
  • Experience in international cancer programmes
  • Familiar with cervical cancer global initiatives and their needs
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) an advantage.

 

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 250, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
