In May 2015, the DFS Supply Chain Management (SCM) Vision and Strategy was formally approved by the USG DFS. In January of 2019, post management reform, the newly formed Department of Operational Support (DOS) established the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) with a vision to provide efficient, agile, responsive, and accountable end to end uniformed capabilities and supply chain solutions to its global clients and partners.  

The Office of Supply Chain Management covers a wide scope of services including supply chain planning and performance management, logistical support, procurement, vendor management and supplier diversity, aviation safety, and uniformed capabilities support. OSCM’s mission is to support its clients and partners globally to fulfill their mandates by providing the goods and services they need, when they need them, where they need them and at the best prices. OSCM is committed to enable successful implementation of mandates given to all Secretariat entities by anticipating customer demand, providing strategic services, and organizing for goods and services to be delivered in a timely manner.

The Supply Chain Management Associate carries out his/her tasks within the DOS/OSCM Master Data Management (MDM) team. The MDM team provides master data management and project data services in support of the United Nations ERP, Umoja. The incumbent reports to the MDM team lead.


Functional Responsibilities

1. Master data management, data analysis and quality assurance

  • Review, validate and expedite MDM requests for: material master, service master, contracts, bills of materials, demand planning / supply network planning (DP/SNP) and other supply chain management (SCM) master data
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of MDM requests (web search, UN contracts, vendor catalogues, existing data, all available sources) to ensure the creation of high-quality data
  • Classify and identify characteristics for new types of material and service master records (PIDs)
  • Work with subject matter experts and category managers to ensure appropriate PIDs, contracts, DP/SNP and other SCM data are created / updated accordingly
  • Ensure property and financial management policies are applied when creating new data
  • Resolve issues in the creation and use of PIDs, and other SCM data highlighting risks and potential impact
  • Process MDM requests for any future data objects under the responsibility of the MDM team
  • Build effective client relationships with recipients of the MDM team’s services across the organization
  • Act as a point of contact and expertise for the use of SCM data across the end-to-end supply chain process

2. Project Management Support

Fulfill data tasks as assigned for Umoja Extension 2 (UE2) projects, including but not limited to:
  • Material Master Transformation  
  • Demand Planning / Supply Network Planning 
  • Transportation Management
  • Provide support to the MDM team lead and members in the management and delivery of tasks for the data component of Umoja Extension 2 (UE2) projects

Expected Results:

Effective and timely implementation of high quality data component of UE2 projects

3. General Tasks

  • Work independently with minimal amount of supervision, monitor workload, identify and report risks and issues, deliver quality end products according to schedule
  • Support the MDM team members in the realization of their day to day tasks

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor Degree in Logistics, Business administration or Engineering is an advantage and may substitute for some of the required years of experience

Experience

  • A minimum of six years of experience in material and service master data management and/or procurement and contract management and/or property management in a complex environment is required
  • Work experience in a an International organization and/or UN Agencies is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an integrated, interdisciplinary manner across different business area with experience of systems thinking is highly desirable
  • Experience in SAP is an asset
