ZIG 3 "Emergency Preparedness and Deployment Support" in the division ZIG "Center for International Health Protection" is looking for a

Physician with expertise in international deployments (m/f/d)

(public sector wage scale [TVöD] up to grade E 15)

This is a permanent position. The position will be available immediately.

Location: Berlin-Mitte

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • You will ensure the quality control and knowledge management of all ZIG 3 projects with medical content and contribute to the conceptual development of ZIG 3 operations.
  • You support the planning for sustainability of projects with medical content.
  • You will provide team leadership of the Emergency Medical Team (EMT)-National Focal Point (NFP). Duties and responsibilities include:
  1. Promoting EMT collaboration at the national and international levels.
  2. Representation of the EMT-NFP at WHO and in front of other stakeholders
  3. Further strengthening of German EMT teams
  • You will advise ZIG 3’s- travel risk management team on medical evacuations and preparedness during deployments.
  • You organize and conduct "first aid in the field” training courses for RKI staff.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Completed university degree (state examination, university diploma, master's degree) in medicine as well as a license to practice medicine
  • Recognition as a medical specialist (“Facharzt”)
  • Several years of experience in emergency medicine, tropical medicine, travel medicine or infectiology is desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of quality standards of medical aid in operations in difficult environments.
  • Professional experience with international projects and consortia desirable
  • Experience with interdisciplinary cooperation projects
  • Experience in adult education, independent preparation of capacity-building materials as well as the organization, implementation and evaluation of capacity-building events.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and abroad; health requirements (fitness for tropical climates) must be met
  • Language skills (CEFR level): English at least C1 (expert level), German at least B1 (advanced level), other languages desirable.
  • Required language skills (CEFR-level): advanced knowledge of English (at least C1). Although no German skills are required, applicants will be encouraged to develop such skills to maximize their integration in our institute.
