The IRC’s Airbel Impact Lab designs, tests, and scales life-changing, cost-effective solutions for people affected by conflict and disaster. Job Overview/Summary
This position will be a member of the Airbel Impact Lab and work closely with the Education Unit to advance the research on education. The position will provide technical research support to different education research projects, including:  
•PlayMatters:  This project aims to design, implement and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of interventions that use learning through play to promote holistic learning outcomes for children in Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia
•Pop-Up Bangladesh: This project aims to evaluate the impact of a tablet-based autonomous learning program in refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar.  
•USAID Div: This project aims to design highly contextualized social-emotional programming and conduct implementation research to test the program’s theory of change, evaluate the quality and fidelity of the implementation, and further refine the program 
•Leave no Girl Behind in Pakistan and Sierra Leone: Oversee and provide support to country-level research managers implementing research that aims to evaluate the impact of FCDO projects to improve learning outcomes of girls in Sierra Leone and Pakistan
•Measurement and Metrics initiatie: This project aims to develop and assess high quality measures to assess children’s holistic learning outcomes and the processes that supports children’s development.
The role reports to the Senior Researcher for Education in the Airbel Impact Lab and works closely with the Education Technical Unit.
Major Responsibilities
1.Work in the analysis and reporting of quantitative/qualitative research conducted as part of different projects
•Impact evaluations to explore the effects of education interventions on the literacy, numeracy, socio-emotional skills and transition outcomes of children in conflict and crsisi affected settings. 
•Implementation research to look at how quality and fidelity of omplementation mediate or moderate outcomes of interests for different type of students
•Measurement research to assess the reliability and validity of outcome and quality of implementation tools and establish protocols for improvement 
2.Advise and provide technical input for M&E teams on calculating indicators and setting up processes for high quality data for the purposes of research  
3.Work with an internal team focused on education research moving our education research priorities forward. 
4.Contribute to dissemination of research findings by writing blogs, briefs, and publications in academic journals and practitioner-focused outlets; 
5.Support in business development processes for research, including gathering information ahead of proposals. 
6.Collaborate with colleagues within the education team, research team and R&D team, and within other IRC departments, in pursuit of the tasks above

Job Requirements 
•MA or PhD in education, economics or related field 
•High level of experience and knowledge of statistical skills, and ability to accurately interpret research findings from studies using causal inference research and multi-level modeling, using software such as Stata or MPlus
•Experience assessing the reliability and validity of measures, including factor analysis, using software such as Stata or Mplus
•Experience with qualitative research highly desirable, including grounded theory, content analysis, discourse analysis, etc, using software like NVivo or Dedoose
•Minimum five years of progressive experience in education research and/or relevant practice 
•Experience with business development
•Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment 
•Solid organizational skills: the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure, dealing with competing priorities, in a fast-paced team environment; 
•Interest in and ability to think and plan at the ‘big picture’ level;
•Fluent in English a must; fluent in French, Arabic, Spanish or Urdu desired.
