The IRC Emergency Unit
The IRC Emergency and Humanitarian Action Unit (EHAU) leads or oversees IRC’s global emergency preparedness, response and humanitarian activities. The mission of the EHAU is to help meet the immediate survival needs and reduce suffering in conflict or disaster affected populations during the acute phase of an emergency. The EHAU also works in protracted emergencies, where the risk to life may be reduced but the population is still subjected to rights abuses and a lack of basic services. 
Signpost
Signpost is a digitally powered community-led information two-way information service that empowers its clients navigate complex crises.  Signpost’s mission is to decolonize humanitarian information and upgrade the architecture of humanitarian response through cutting edge technology tools and user centered design methods.  Signpost is built on partnerships in the private and aid industry and works across sectors and agencies to deliver best results. Signpost currently spans 12 countries on five continents, with plans to expand its work to over 20 countries by the end of 2022. 
Job Overview/Summary
The Signpost Product Manager ensures that Signpost’s technology strategy and tools are best in class and that the technological needs of each Signpost instance are met. The Product Manager is responsible for aligning all Signpost digital tools with the priorities set by the Signpost Global team and field teams, and works to align all tools with technological best practice and user needs, and setting a vision for the development of the Signpost technology.  In completing the responsibilities of this position, the Signpost Product Manager works closely in collaboration with the IRC’s IT department to ensure that all digital tools meet program requirements and organizational best practices.
Major Responsibilities
1. Technology Strategy 
•Develop on an ongoing basis the Signpost product roadmap / strategy  
•Implement / oversee work that contributes to the realization of the product roadmap / strategy 
2. Oversee Maintenance and Development, of Signpost Product 
•Prioritize product requests based on Signpost stakeholder priorities
•Advise on best practice for implementing tools and customizing tools
•Ensure quality assurance and acceptance testing are conducted 
•Translate field needs into technical requirements and write tickets for software development team
•Research and write product scopes for new features, product decisions
3. Administration / support of Accounts 
•Administer tools integrated with Signpost teams, e.g. Slack, Transifex
4. Support Programming at country / implementation level 
•Support the program design of new instances of Signpost and guide product / tech strategy per program requirements. 
•Configure, setup and launch of a new Signpost instance’s technology / product
•Meet with country teams on a needs basis to support and understand technology needs to meet program objectives, understand customer service needs, and gain comprehensive overview and log for bugs, fixes and adaptations requested. 
• Train Implementation Teams in the use of tech tools (Service Map, Content Management Systems, Twilio, Zendesk)
•Write and maintain overall technology scope documents for each instance
5. External Stakeholder Relations
•Collaborate and engage with technology partners and other donor and partner organizations.
•Support new instance exploration and engagement with potential future partners and collaborators
6. Create Guidance Documentation 
•Create and support the adaptation of technical guidance for the Signpost product to support Signpost implementation teams.  
•Maintain knowledge management environment that houses the suite of guidance documents and standards (currently in Zendesk)
7. Collaborate With Signpost Global Team
•Technical collaboration with M&E  
•Attend and support facilitation of meetings and workshops 
Key Working Relationships 
•Reports to:  Project Director, Signpost
•Collaborates externally with: the Interagency Signpost Global Team members in IRC, Mercy Corps, Internews and Net Hope and technology partners
•Collaborates internally with IRC IT department, Signpost instance teams in country programs, and IRC Fundraising / Partners team (IPP)
Job Requirements 
•4+ years work experience, with a focus on technology/product management  
•Experience facilitating user centered design workshops
•Humanitarian / Not for profit sector experience desirable 
•Familiarity with Agile, JIRA, and other core product management competencies
•Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment, across time zones and geographies; ability to develop positive relationships with local and remote staff 
•Ability to work independently with remote supervision
•Excellent oral and written communications skills (English) required; French, Arabic, and/or Spanish language skills are an asset
Working Environment
Standard office work environment with up to 20% travel to field when possible.
