National Consultant, LIVE Programme (SSA)

Background:

Using a multi-dimensional and cross-sectoral approach, the 'Leaders against Intolerance and Violent Extremism' (LIVE) initiative promotes context-specific efforts against VERLT developed and led by civil society actors at the local level, across the OSCE area for grassroots awareness-raising to build resilience and promoting alternative narratives and opportunities for positive change. The training sessions will emphasize the need to prevent terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and to reject unequivocally the association of terrorism and violent extremism with any religion, nationality or ethnicity, consistent with the OSCE commitments. LIVE facilitators will seek to coach participants through context-analysis, self-reflection, and identification of possible ideas they feel are feasible, appropriate and safe. The training sessions will demonstrate the ways in which civil society stakeholders can contribute to building resilience against violent extremism and intolerance leading to terrorism.

3 months


Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:
  • To develop programme for the course based on materials elaborated by Secretariat during LIVE train-the-trainer course; 
  • To conduct five days training course based on the developed programme;
  • To identify relevant participants for training course; 
  • To provide final training report along with LIVE facilitators with assessment of conducted sessions and recommendations for further improvement with summary and detailed description of each conducted session of five days training course;
  • To prepare Concept Note for the training and mentoring period with detailed description of identified criteria and objective; 
  • To develop evaluation forms for the participants;
  • To prepare full set of print and electronic materials for the course to be available for all the participants based on materials provided during LIVE train-the-trainer course;
  • To provide mentoring support to participants organized online or offline and reflect on progress of provided consultations;    
  • To conduct pre/post training knowledge and attitude survey/assessments among the participants of training sessions during mentoring period;  
  • To submit final individual narrative report with analysis of feedback forms and post-test forms of participants upon completion of mentoring support meetings; 
  • To submit written information/reports, upon request, as well as consultations for reporting activities at the request of the Programme Office, within the specified short term deadlines; 
  • To participate in meetings upon necessity organized with Secretariat and/or POiB on follow up LIVE initiative.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in humanities or social sciences from an accredited university;
  • Practical experience in preparation of materials and conduct of trainings;
  • Previous experience of providing mentoring support;
  • Advanced experience of work with youth organizations/youth community leaders; 
  • Strong coaching skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and deliver presentations;
  • Demonstrated ability to moderate and facilitate training seminars, group discussions;
  • Strong drafting and reporting skills in Russian and Kyryz. Good command of English at the level of understanding written texts on topics related to the tasks and providing the required and requested information is an asset; 
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility, demonstrated analytical skills, and  maturity of judgement;
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team and with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural and professional backgrounds as well as different gender, diverse political views and approaches to problems, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Good knowledge of the OSCE mandate and its area of operation; previous assignments within the OSCE or another international organization would be an asset;
  • Experience in similar assignments is an advantage;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  •  Ability and willingness to work as a member of team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Computer literate with practical experience using Microsoft applications.


Remuneration package


Remuneration will depend on the selected consultant’s qualifications and experience and be in accordance with OSCE established rates.
