  1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the security assistant position is to assist in the day to day implementation of the security department. This role is a normal working week position, with much focus on administrative duties relating to the guard and drivers.  When necessary, the Security Assistant will be required to provide guard cover in the event of absence.

 

Generic responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

 

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

 

 

 

 

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Supervise the NRC Iraq guard force.
  • Conduct regular inspection of guards on duty and their sites.
  • Log incidents and rectify where possible. Alert SA or CSFP on serious incidents.
  • Ensure that the NRC office is safe and secure and that all staff adhere to the office procedures.  Including access control to the office.
  • Act as an interface between visitors and NRC.
  • Immediately respond as per NRC SOPs in the event of a medical emergency, and to immediately relay information to relevant parties involved in emergency actions as specified in SOPs.
  • Carry out all relevant administrative duties relating to the guard force and drivers.  This includes, schedules and time sheets. To ensure that there is sufficient coverage.
  • Supervise, train and monitor guards to NRC standards.  Provide details of training and maintain tracker.
  • Maintain all equipment related to the guards in a serviceable state and immediately report any faults, damage or unserviceability to the NRC SA.
  • To implement, manage and maintain up to date contact lists, including names, and contacts numbers for guards.

•             Experience from working as a security assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context

•             Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

•             Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

•             Some knowledge of English

 

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Current driving license, and be capable of driving a 4x4.
  • In-depth knowledge of Baghdad.
  • Speak and Write English to a high standard.
  • Computer literate with the ability write emails and use excel to a good standard.

 

2. Behavioural competencies (max 6)

Salary: G4/S1, According to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
