Job Overview/Summary:

The WPE Program Officer will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day prevention and response activities in the new safe space and surrounding displacement sites in Ponnagyun Township. The Program Officer will mentor and supervise new staff and take a leading role in building up program activities in Ponnagyun’s Women and Girls Wellness Center (WGWC) and in the surrounding IDP sites with the support from the wider WPE team. Through field coordination and presence, the Program Officer will strengthen capacity and coordination with other agencies and stakeholders. The Program Officer will also assist with general programmatic responsibilities in the Sittwe office as needed including general administrative and operational tasks for the Ponnagyun program. He/she will help with development of work plans and ensuring timely implementation of activities. The Program Officer is responsible for all monitoring and evaluation and reporting with support from the WPE Manager in Sittwe and the M&E Manager. The Program Officer provides GBV technical support and supervision to the caseworker, WGWC attendant, and five community focal points from Ponnagyun sites.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of WPE programs in Ponnagyun urban safe space and displacement sites
  • Travel from Sittwe to Ponnagyun on a regular basis – 3 to 4 days a week will be in the field location while other days will be in Sittwe office for admin and operations
  • Provide technical guidance and support to daily workers including WPE caseworker, WGWC attendant, outreach workers (community focal points) and security guards in line with a survivor-centered approach and GBV guiding principles; supporting with staff development
  • Provide direct psychosocial support to GBV survivors especially for remote case management when needed
  • Conduct mentorship and support supervision to caseworker, WGWC attendants and incentive staff from Ponnagyun sites for both prevention and response activities
  • Ensure proper case documentation, case files maintenance and storage in line with GBVIMS guidelines
  • Develop strategies for strengthening WPE prevention and response services in Ponnagyun urban and displacement sites
  • Provide capacity building trainings to incentive staff, CSO/INGO/UN partners, and local actors including village administrators and CMCs
  • Communicate program needs to WPE Manager
  • Collect and submit timely data for prevention and response activities to M&E manager
  • Compile and submit monthly activity reports
  • Promote GBV guiding principles throughout all WPE activities
  • Provide support to the program team in ensuring all activities operate smoothly and effectively under a positive working environment
  • Support WPE team to streamline and improve operational procedures on an ongoing basis
  • Support on other assignments as requested by the program
