UNICEF Office of Emergency Programmes in Geneva is looking for a home-based consultant to develop an ERP tookit for the Global Nutrition Cluster.

The purpose of the consultancy is to develop a Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC)-specific ERP toolkit which can be used by country-level Nutrition coordination teams to support with their preparedness efforts. Specifically, the consultant will work on developing a series of tools and resources to support country-level coordination teams with rolling out the ERP Approach, in consultation with the GNC Technical Alliance. These tools and resources are to include a workshop training package on the ERP Approach, content for e-learning modules on the ERP Approach for the new GNC e-learning platform, revised guidance on the Nutrition in Emergencies ERP, and a series of trainings and webinars to rollout the developed products.

How can you make a difference?

The consultant will be expected to undertake the following tasks:

  • Desk review and country-level consultations of the current IASC, GNC , and other clusters’ ERP guidelines, training packages , tools and identify elements that can potentially be adopted in the GNC ERP system.
  • Consultative session with countries for the phase I ERP roll out.
  • Develop a set of recommendations based on the desk review and consult with GNC-CT team on the proposed changes in the existing tools, guidelines, templates and training package.
  • Update the GNC ERP guidance to reflect the new 2020 IASC ERP guidance; and in a manner that will be used as a step by step manual for implementing ERP at country level.
  • Work with the designers to ensure that the guidance and tools are designed and proofreading the drafts.
  • Using available resources (preliminary package already developed by the GNC) and additional external best practices and approaches, develop a three-day offline training package on the ERP approach for country-level partners and coordination teams which includes:
    • PowerPoints for plenary sessions
    • Tools & templates for working session
    • An offline contingency plan template compatible with the GNC ERP online template.

The training package should be organized in step-by-step approach, so that country coordination teams and partners can develop an ERP plan in a workshop setting with minimal GNC support.

  • Using the newly developed training packages and with support from GNC Operational Support team and GNC Technical Alliance, organize and facilitate a 3-day regional level online training on ERP for country coordination teams and TST technical advisors .
  • Develop approximately ten storyboards for the GNC online e-learning platform.

Contractual arrangements:

  • Duration: The consultant is expected to work 74 days between August and December 2021. 
  • Duty station and travel: The consultant will be home-based and is not expected to travel.
  • Payments: The consultant will be paid upon timely and satisfactory submission of deliverables.
  • Reporting: The consultant will report to the  Team Leader , Global Nutrition Cluster Operational Support

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree in nutrition, public health, relevant social or natural sciences, or other related discipline;
  • Minimum of 8 years of proven knowledge and experience in nutrition in emergency / nutrition programming, cluster/sector coordination or other relevant experience;
  • Able to work under pressure and adapt to an evolving and complex context and within multidisciplinary and different cultural background teams;
  • Extensive experience in emergency preparedness, especially in contexts where the Humanitarian Programme Cycle was activated or contexts identified as fragile
  • In depth knowledge of the IASC Emergency Response Preparedness Approach
  • Proven experience and institutional knowledge of the UN, at both headquarters and field locations
  • Proven expertise developing workshop content for similar organisations, involving a range of participants from the field and headquarters
  • Experience in conducting online webinars and trainings, preferably in emergency preparedness
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English, and knowledge of French and Spanish desirable
