The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Logistics, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping missions around the world.
This position is located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the Central Warehousing Unit (CWU) of Supply Chain Service. This position is under the general supervision of the Chief Central Warehousing Unit.
Within delegated authority, the Logistics Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
•Coordinates and provides logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations in the area.
•Identifies, mobilizes resources, implements and reports on special logistics operations.
•Provides and coordinates logistics support to military, police, security and substantive components of the mission.
•Elaborates, drafts and finalizes Standard Operating Procedures, ad hoc Policies and reports in English.
•Retrieves, cleans, merges and organizes data to provide sound analysis with reports in SAP/ERP, excel and power BI.
•Plans the workload of the Central Warehouse by forecasting clients demand for Strategic Deployment Stock (SDS) and UN reserve through the Global Demand and Acquisition plan and historical data.
•Liaises and coordinates logistics support with other units within UNGSC, such as transportation, communications, movement control and procurement, and outside UNGSC.
•Coordinates logistics requirements with other UN and other organizations in the Mission, and Host Government entities.
•Liaises and coordinates logistics support with UNHQ.
•Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
•Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
•Performs other related duties as required.

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in logistics, business administration, public administration, engineering, or other relevant field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Supply Chain Operations Reference – Professional (SCOR-P) certification or equivalent is required.
Professional Forecasting certification is desirable.
A minimum of five (05) years of progressively responsible experience in surface and/or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organizations, or related area is required.
Experience in drafting reports, policies and SOP in English is required.
Experience in data analysis with SAP/ERP, excel and power BI is required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; Knowledge of the other is desirable.Assessment
