Job Overview:The Community Outreach assistant will play a key role in ensuring vulnerable refugees and immigrants served by the IRC in New York have the information, tools and understanding to apply for the NYC Excluded Workers Fund (EWF) and effectively navigate local systems, benefits and resources. They will work across programs to provide outreach, assessment and application assistance, benefits navigation and interpretation services. This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2022.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach to local immigrant populations using Excluded Worker Fund and financial education materials

·Develop, review, edit and provide material feedback on produced content and other materials relating to outreach and education materials.

·Facilitate in-language remote and in person education programming related to Excluded Workers Fund eligibility and application, and other relevant public benefit and financial education needs

·Help develop and deliver innovative ideas for engaging community members (i.e., Facebook Live events, WhatsApp groups, etc.).

  • Assess immigrant families for Excluded Workers Fund eligibility and other benefits/resources. Refer to services as applicable.
  • Collaborate with IRC staff and community partners to complete applications for Excluded Workers Fund

·Collaborate with IRC staff to provide financial coaching support to immigrant families

  • Provide related interpretation and translation services
  • Case note and document services provided according to program guidelines

·Participate in biweekly meetings with project lead and monthly group meetings to share strategies on project deliverables, discuss best practices, and tackle challenges

·Develop dissemination and tracking plan for targeted community, execute dissemination & collect analytical information (with support from project's M&E Manager)

·Assist the IRC to map local, state or regional resources and partnerships that provide social service supports to immigrant populations

·Other duties as assigned
