Travel:         

The post is home-based and travel is not foreseen.

In the event of unforeseeable travel not anticipated in this ToR, payment of travel costs including tickets, lodging and terminal expneses should be agreed upon, between the respective business unit and the individual, prior to travel and will be reimbursed. Travel costs are covered only in the event that any official travel expected to be associated with performing the functions.

Office/Unit/Project Description 

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) are jointly launching a global initiative to respond to the growing intersectional inequalities faced by women and girls with disabilities. Taking a whole-of-society approach, engaging OPDs and other civil society actors, relevant government institutions, national human rights institutions and women influencers, the initiative aims to improve the protection of women and girls with disabilities from SGBV, and the access to effective services for women and girl survivors of SGBV. The joint project will be implemented in the following pilot countries: Palestine, Moldova, Pakistan and Samoa. The joint project will also include the design and piloting of tools and approaches (ie., gender responsiveness etc. ) to identify and quantify stigma and discrimination, its causes, manifestations and impacts.

Institutional Arrangement

The Project Coordinator will work under the guidance of the Governance and Peacebuilding Team Leader, UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub with a matrixed reporting to UN-Women Global Adviser and Team Leader, Disability Inclusion and Intersectionality Portfolio (DIIP),  in close collaboration with UN Women and UNDP colleagues at Headquarters and in the UNDP and UN Women Regional Hubs in Bangkok, Amman and Istanbul. The Project Coordinator will also liaise closely with UNDP and UN Women offices in the project countries.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work  

The Project Coordinator is expected to coordinate the implementation of the Project by:

 1.     Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the project in coordination with UNDP and UN Women HQ, regional and country offices and national stakeholders:

  • Coordinating with expert consultants, relevant UNDP and UN Women country offices and partners, ensuring the timely delivery of outputs as well as effective financial and activity reporting to the donor;
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of the Project, including drafting TORs, identifying consultants, arranging their recruitment, tracking project expenditures including ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded;
  • Monitoring the progress of implementation of project activities and key event schedules observing the work-plans and set deadlines including monitoring of the financial resources and accounting to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports;
  • Review the quality of products/deliverables;
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on time;
  • Monitor performance of consultants to ensure outputs are delivered in accordance with the contract;
  • Ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of project activities and results based on the project document
  • Developing and coordinating project-related documentation, including progress reports and detailed work plans;
  • Assisting in other relevant tasks to support implementation of the project as requested.

2. Advice and technical backstopping

  • Coordinate with expert consultants to ensure the provision of technical support to all country offices and other stakeholders.
  • Organise online cross-country meetings between participating country offices, HQ/regional offices and consultants for overall training, consultation and experience-sharing;

3. Knowledge management

  • Provide guidance to ensure that communication around the project and dissemination of knowledge products produced by the team are carried out to maximize outreach and impact of the project.
  • Ensure establishment of institutional linkages with the  knowledge products generated through the joint project and related partnership, and, and ensure incorporation of users’/clients’ feedback to the knowledge development process.

Required Skills and Experience

Min. Academic Education

Master’s Degree, or equivalent in in law, governance, human rights, political science, business management, or related disciplines;

Min. years of relevant Work experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ progressively responsible work experience (of which at least 3 years international experience) in relation to international development projects, preferably the areas of rule of law, gender equality, human rights and/or disability inclusion, including at least 2 years project or programme management experience;
  • Experience working with UNDP, UN Women or other UN agencies is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of UNDP operational rules, principles and procedures is highly desirable.

Required  skills and competencies

  • Strong programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills;
  • Strong knowledge of results-based management principles and approaches;
  • Sound understanding of gender equality and human rights-based approaches;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills;
  • Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks efficiently.

Desired additional skills and competencies

  • Sound understanding of the principles of disability-inclusive development.

Required Language(s) (at working level)

  • Fluency in oral and written English.
