The UNDP-led flagship seven-year programme on Reducing the Risk of Climate-Driven Disasters (referred to as Programme, hereafter) is being implemented since 2018 in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, with funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the governments of Georgia, Switzerland and Sweden. The Programme includes three inter-related projects:

 GCF-funded Scaling-up Multi-Hazard Early Warning System and the Use of Climate Information in Georgia
 SDC-funded Strengthening Climate Adaptation Capacities in Georgia
 SIDA-funded Improved Resilience of Communities to Climate Risk
 
The overall objective of the Programme is to reduce exposure of Georgia’s communities, livelihoods and infrastructure to climate-induced natural hazards through a well-functioning nationwide multi-hazard early warning system and a risk-informed local action.
 
The Programme Team requires the services of an Information Management and Reporting Assistant to ensure the high-standard, accurate and informative reporting to the donors and national partners, as well as to assist the Programme team and the UNDP Communications Team in preparing high-quality communications materials related to the Programme and the UNDP environmental work in general.
 
Under direct supervision of the GCF/SDC/SIDA project managers and UNDP’s Environment & Energy (E&E) Team Leader, the Information Management and Reporting Assistant will be tasked with drafting and editing the narrative reports, proposals, presentations, templates and other procedural documents in compliance with the relevant reporting standards. Further, s/he will be engaged in organizing public events and working meetings and preparing background content for the communication materials (brochures, stories, press releases, presentations, case studies) and supporting programmatic and/or communication initiatives driven by the donors or national partners.
 
The Information Management and Reporting Assistant will be responsible for maintaining close collaboration with the UNDP Communications Team as well as communication teams of the donor agencies and national partners, including the Government of Georgia.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of the GCF/SIDA/SDC Project Managers, and in close collaboration with the
UNDP Communications Team, the incumbent is responsible for the following tasks and activities:
  • Review the Programme-related materials, prepare a reporting plan in line with donors requirements
  • and ensure timely collection, preparation and editing of the relevant information;
  • Develop bulletins/reports and other materials for key stakeholders/donors;
  • Participate in developing, editing and polishing project deliverables/reports and publications;
  • Ensure that produced materials comply with the UNDP and donor requirements and standards;
  • Conduct research and data collection for publications, articles, blogs, reports, etc.;
  • In coordination with the Programme Team and the UNDP Communications Team:
    • Engage in preparing a Programme Communication Strategy and specific communication plans
    • for all three projects (GCF/SDC/SIDA);
    • Provide the UNDP Communications Team with regularly updated information on the
    • Programme activities to be included in the monthly communication and public outreach
    • planner;
    • Support the Programme team in planning and organizing public events and working meetings
    • (working group meetings, workshops, conferences, UN Days celebration, media and photo
    • trips, etc.);
    • Provide inputs for the Programme-related press releases, feature stories, videos and blogs;
    • engage in organizing outreach campaigns and awareness-raising events;
    • Provide regular inputs for the UNDP Georgia public website, including the Programme-related
    • web profiles and the E&E activity page;
    • Edit and polish the Programme-related talking points and correspondences;
    • Provide inputs for the Programme-related publications and, in certain cases, fully coordinate
    • a designing and printing process.
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the GCF/SIDA/SDC Project Managers and E&E portfolio team leader (Organigram attached)

Required Skills and Experience

Min. Academic Education

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Management or a related field

Relevant Work experience

  • At least a 3-year working experience with proven expertise in editing/drafting/report writing;
  • Working experience in the area of climate change and environment protection will be an asset.
  • Working experience at international organizations will be an asset.
  • Good knowledge of computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; knowledge of additional editing programmes will be an asset).
  • Strong technical skills in developing presentations using different programs (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc);
  • Confidence with web-based applications and basic knowledge of HTML, as well as video and photo editing and software design, will be an asset.
Required Language(s) (at working level)
 
Fluency in Georgian and English
