OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Regulation and Prequalification Department (RPQ) works with Member States and partners to improve the access to essential medicines and other health technologies of assured quality, safety and efficacy or effectiveness. RPQ works within the Access to Medicines and Health Products Division (MHP) division departments in the wider framework of Universal Health Coverage and category 4 of the General Programme of Work and cooperates with disease oriented programmes (among others HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, reproductive health, maternal and child health, immunization, NCDs and mental health) towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The department works with a wide range of UN organizations, international partners and expert networks, and WHO Collaborating Centres.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will report directly to the Unit Head whilst working closely with the Unit'sTeam Leads and technical officers along with the Unit Head's Assistant, theMHP management office andRPQ Director's Office to: provide general technical and coordination support to the Unit Head and subsequent follow up. Consolidate grant and communications management for the Unit. Assist in improving grant management by working with the above mentioned staff in managing work plan development, monitoring budget allocations and execution to ensure feasibility and consistency of oversight of project monitoring to ensure that milestones, timelines and deliverables are met, and in the event of problems, alerting senior staff of any need for remedial action. Assist the Unit Head in the preparation of technical and financial reports, including but not limited to statistical and dashboard reports. Liaise with the Unit Head, MHP management office and RPQ Director's Office to extend the donor base of RPQ through identification and building of new partners for RHT, and develop and submit new funding proposals. Facilitate communication with external stakeholders (implementation partners, donors and others) regarding progress and impact of RPQ's activities. Assist the Unit Head to arrange and coordinate advocacy activities perform all other related duties as assigned by or through the Unit Head.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: First level university degree in business, management, health related sciences, communications or related field.
Desirable: Health related studies or degree. Project management certification.

Experience

Essential: At least five years of experience at programmatic/project management level in public health or related area.
Desirable: Experience at an international level developing grant proposals and writing progress reports for donors.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 62,120 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4328 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
