In July 2016, the State of Kansas withdrew from the administration of federal Office for Refugee Resettlement (ORR) funded programming. The IRC was subsequently selected to serve as “replacement designee” for Kansas, administering benefits outlined in ORR regulations through a newly created Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR), based in Wichita.
As an Evidence-Based Program Design VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America), primary functions
will be:
•Establish and expand partnerships with stakeholders across
the state, including: employers, English language training providers, public
benefits offices, and workforce development programs. Leverage partnerships to
enhance refugee Employment programs.
•Analyze program and client data to identify areas for
program improvement. Design tools and strategies to meet program and sub-award
partner needs.
•Build a repository of resources related to employment and
economic integration of refugees to share with sub-award partners and other
stakeholders.
The EBPD VISTA serves as a member of the Economic Empowerment team in the KSOR office.
As an AmeriCorps member, those serving will earn a
bi-weekly living stipend pegged to the cost of living. In addition to a living
stipend, members receive:
