Job Description

  1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the CC/Support technical assistant position is to provide administrative or technical support in a specialist areas of work, either support functions or Core Competences. The Technical assistant vary from the assistant position by providing a range of support within their area of expertise e.g. ICLA case workers, technical advice and monitoring for implementing partners or constructions companies.

 Use actions words such as conduct or assist for the position relevant responsibilities.

 Generic responsibilities (max 10)

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist a range of support with the implementation of the CC portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated
  4. Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards
  5. Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team
  6. Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
  7. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  8. Ensure proper filing of documents
  9. Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertis

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Record and maintain project specific field documents according to donor and NRC specifications and the education tools, resources and equipment used by the education team and records, student attendance and progress (Learner data base)
  • Keep YEP/LRC (NRC’s partner) graduate’s records and meet before and after graduation to run smoothly in respective graduate’s villages
  • Implement Coach and mentor session after Graduation 3 weeks and run up to 6 months
  • Access to graduates villages or through phone or online for Coaching& Mentoring
  • Conduct youth Networking workshop in villages and YEP center with Graduates students
  • Conduct Tracer and collect success stories of YEP/LRC (NRC’s Partner) graduates and report to Education Coordinator
  • Support monitoring & evaluation activities and all report writing activities
  • Support for the EO, EC and PDM in providing translation from Sagaw or Poe Kayin to Myanmar/English
  • Design, plan and implementation C&M in order to ensure impacting and timely intervention
  • Schedule and participate in training implementation, running and follow up of the project including monitoring, teaching methodologies
  • Support the selection processes of participants in line with specific vulnerability criteria
  • Actively promote the Right to Education (including in emergency with an understanding of Protection and Child Protection principles)
  • Ensure proper evaluation of all education activities.
  • Prepare and facilitate introduce on new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
  • Undertake any other duties, not listed above assigned by Line Manager or

 

Technical Manager in order to improve and facilitate implement of the project

 

Critical interfaces

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • The NRC Education Officer and Education Coordinator
  • The NRC Project and Support staff in NRC sub office in Hpa-an/Dawei
  • The NRC Project Manager

Scale and scope of position

Staff:

Numbers and titles of staff directly managed by the post holder, and numbers of staff and daily workers/incentive staff responsible for overall in the unit (e.g. 5 project officers and 2 education assistants, 34 staff in total)

Stakeholders:

Key external stakeholders the post has relationships with (e.g. UN agencies, INGOs, local NGOs, civil society, governmental bodies)

Budgets:

List of budgets covered by post holder, and size of budget

Information:

Brief description of the information resources the post holder is responsible for at CO level (e.g. GORS, Agresso, Webcruiter, Intranet)

Brief description of any legal or compliance responsibility the post holder has (term of employment, vendors, donors)

  1. Competencies

Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired results. They are relevant for all staff and are divided into the following two categories:

These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.

Generic professional competencies:

•            Experience from working as a Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context

  •        Knowledge and experience within a relevant administration, craft or technical field and
           ideally a relevant vocational qualification

•            Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

•            Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

•            Some knowledge of English

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from recognized university
  • Experience in implementing Life skills or related training for youth and adolescent
  • At least 3 years working as trainer/facilitator with international NGO, UN agencies or government

2. Behavioral competencies (max 6)
