Organizational Setting

FAO's office for Yemen is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Yemen. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at the country level. This position is based in FAO Representation in Sanaa, Yemen. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision by the GIS/Information Management Specialist, and in close cooperation with the Research and Data Analyst Officer, the Data Assistant is responsible for overseeing beneficiary registration, timely beneficiary data cleaning as well as providing regular updates on the overall beneficiary registration processes.

Tasks and responsibilities

Perform all steps involved in Beneficiary data cleaning;
o Follow up and finalization of the beneficiary registration
o Initiate the data cleaning and data validation processes
o Compare Beneficiary registration with Beneficiary Selection Criteria to identify missing information
o Compare Beneficiary registration with Beneficiary database to identify duplications
o Contact IPs for data corrections and/or replacements
o Liaise with M&E through the beneficiary verification procedures
o Complete and share the final Beneficiary data for creation of the Distribution List
o Archiving of Beneficiary dataset as well as documents provided during the beneficiary registration and data cleaning cycle
o Prepare summary report of the data cleaning by project
- Update the weekly Data Cleaning Tracker;
- Update the KOBO database with new Beneficiary data;
- Support the trainings of enumerators before deployment to the field for data collection;
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Research and Data Analyst Officer;
- Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement

Expected Outputs:


▪ Updated database of beneficiary data
▪ Summary report of data cleaning by project


CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements


- Bachelor’s degree in Database, Statistics, Agriculture, Economics or related fields
- Four years’ experience in field assessments, assessments over phone and reporting including 2 years’ experience in cleaning data and providing summary report is desirable.
- Experience with an UN agency, international NGO or donor agencies highly desirable.
- Good command in English and Arabic, both spoken and written.
- Nationality of Yemen

Technical/Functional Skills


- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Email/Internet, PowerPoint, is essential.
- Experience in using Kobo and/or other mobile data collection tools is highly desirable.
- Good communication skills.
