Job Overview:
The New Roots Farmers Market Specialist will work with the New Roots Local Foods Market Coordinator to support new Roots operated farmers markets and New Roots farm wholesale and CSA operations. This position reports to the New Roots Local Foods Market Coordinator.
Major Responsibilities: 
Market Operations
•Assist in streamlining the produce aggregation process during market days.
•Work with the Market Coordinator to support operations at the Sunnyvale Farmers Market each Saturday
•Support New Roots Team in setting up farmers market, benefits booth, and food pantry.
•Support New Roots team in managing volunteers with continuous communication about who is needed when/where.
•Support the EBT and Fresh Fund redemption booth during market days.
•Support the operations of the Sunnyvale Food Pantry.
•Support donations of all market leftovers toward emergency food assistance programs.
•Work with farmers during to market and assist with any needs that may arise.
Wholesale Markets Support
•Support New Roots farm staff in harvesting, washing, and packing wholesale produce
•Support New Roots staff in delivery of wholesale produce, Emergency Food Assistance shares, and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares.
•Support New Roots staff in cleaning wash station, walk-in cooler, storage containers, and vehicles
•Maintain food safety policies at farm sites and during deliveries, including Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
Additional Responsibilities 
•Assist in working with AmeriCorps VISTAs, volunteers, and interns as necessary.
•Support New Roots SLC team through collaboration and participation in various New Roots SLC events and projects, including seasonal farmers markets, produce deliveries, and community gardening activities.
•Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team.
•Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the organization.
•Other related duties as assigned.
