Health Promotion Program Specialist

SCOPE OF WORK

Under the direction of the Health Empowerment Coordinator, the Health Promotion Specialist will oversee all refugee health education initiatives including navigating the healthcare system workshops, Health Promotion and prevention projects and community health mentor programs. Additionally, the Coordinator may provide guidance and oversight to a Health Promotion intern each semester. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·Coordinate activities outlined under ORR Health Promotion Grant

·Develop and update program curricula

·Research and develop health promotion strategies

·Track outcomes, analyze data, and provide recommendations for program improvement

·Conduct outreach. Maintain and cultivate partnerships

·Oversee community health mentor program

·Support with Covid-19 education materials and vaccine outreach efforts

·Supervise, mentor and support 1-3 Health Promotion Interns per semester

·Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency

·Support overall functioning of Health Programs, projects and initiatives

·Participate in all program meetings and staff development activities

·Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

·Associates degree or higher in Public Health or Health Promotion

·Two years of work/volunteer experience in health education; preferably with diverse/refugee population

·Familiar with Medicaid, US health care system, and refugee health needs/issues

·Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment and with limited-English speakers

·Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member

·Strong computer skill with proficiency in Microsoft Office; database experience a plus

·Well-organized with proven ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively

·Commitment to the IRC mission and core values

·Valid driver’s license, current insurance, and access to reliable transportation required
