Social Solutions International Inc. is seeking an experienced Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID-funded Improving Serbia’s Environmental Protection Activity planned as 5 years effort estimated at $5 million. The overall purpose of the activity is to improve Serbia’s commitment to environmental and biodiversity protection. The Improving Serbia’s Environmental Protection Activity will advance Serbia’s Biodiversity and Environmental protection by provision of capacity building, advocacy support, public awareness and cross sectoral cooperation.


The COP will serve as the main contact between USAID and Social Solutions International, Inc., reporting to both, and as such the COP's efforts will focus on the core services as well as management of the contract. The COP is also responsible for facilitating communications and close coordination with all the stakeholders.

 

This position is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and leadership for the project;
  • Represent the project and Social Solutions at relevant regional meetings and conferences;
  • Ensure that project activities meet client expectations and that project results are proactively disseminated;
  • Manage senior technical, financial and operations personnel;
  • Ensure adherence to USG, USAID, and Social Solutions’ rules and regulations;
  • Collaborate with USAID COR to structure the sub-granting approach and timeline;
  • Draft annual work plans;
  • Submit quarterly and annual progress reports, as well as other project documents as required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a proven track record of project leadership, programmatic accomplishment, management competence, and interpersonal skills;
  • Significant experience in working on environmental and biodiversity issues
  • Experience working in Serbia
  • Demonstrated experience implementing a multi-million-dollar development project or activity in a developing country-context;
  • Extensive experience working on USAID-funded activities;
  • Excellent interpersonal/diplomatic skills and cultural/political sensitivity;
  • Working proficiency in English required, working proficiency in Serbian strong preferred.
