  1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the Finance technical assistant position is to provide administrative or technical support in specialist areas of work, either support functions or Core Competences. The Technical assistant vary from the assistant position by providing a range of support within their area of expertise.

Generic responsibilities

  • Implement NRC’s systems and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements
  • Prepare and submit reports and analysis
  • Ensure proper filing of all support documents
  • line managers in procedures and require support team trainings
  • Ensure that the accounting, monitoring and reporting are according to procedures 
  • Support project staff in financial matters 
  • Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the area 
  • Promote the rights of refugees and displaced in line with the advocacy strategy
  • Ensure that key learnings are extracted from operations regarding protection, and incorporate them into program strategy and staff development processes

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC. Reports to line manager respective of cash flows and payments.
  • Reconciling cash advances, teachers & labour payments.
  • Provide cash assistance to new arrivals from NFI area.
  • Carry out regular cash count.
  • Ensure sufficient cash in the cash box.
  • Prepare voucher and documentation related to cash box and supplier payments.
  • Checking and processing labours and teacher’s payments in the fields when needed.
  • Participate in cash distributions when needed.
  • Assist in the month-end accounting closing process, ensuring the accuracy and
    completeness of the ledger and all supporting documentation.
  • Scanning and filing all transactions related.
  • Supporting finance staff when needed.
