Context

Established in 1946, NRC is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organisation supporting people who are forced to flee. In 2020 NRC supported nearly 12 million people across more than 30 countries. This large scale response is only possible because of funding and partnerships with more than 40 institutional donors. 

The Institutional Partnerships Section at NRC Head Office supports fundraising and donor relations for all of NRC’s country operations and units. The section belongs to the Partnership and Policy Department, which is responsible for NRC’s work on institutional donors globally. In addition to Oslo, NRC has dedicated donor experts in Geneva, Brussels, Washington DC, London and Berlin.

The Institutional Partnerships Section at NRC Head Office manages NRC’s relationships with key Scandinavian donors, such as the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sida, Norad and Danida as well as other emerging donors to NRC. In addition, the section is responsible for tools and processes for NRC’s partnership work globally and for providing guidance support to all departments, and regional, country and representation offices on donor related issues.

We are looking for an analytical, resourceful, organised leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead our Institutional Partnership Section.

What you will do

You will have a threefold responsibility:

  1. Strategy development, budget responsibility and line management for staff in the Section;
  2. Oversee and guide NRC’s relations with donors and thematic areas falling under the responsibility of the Section, including support functions related to those donors and NRC’s  framework agreements;
  3. Support the Director of Institutional Partnerships in her role to drive the development of stronger strategic relations with donors and further professionalization of donor work in NRC.

What you will bring

  • University degree or equivalent qualification;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant leadership/management experience within the humanitarian field;
  • Substantial prior experience within NRC is an added advantage, in order to have an in-depth understanding of NRC’s work and relations with institutional donors;
  • Professional knowledge about the donors falling under the responsibility of the Institutional Partnership Unit;
  • Experience from fundraising, including with framework agreements, networking and information work;
  • Professional knowledge of humanitarian principles;
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise of the humanitarian system and funding mechanisms;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation and representation skills;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile;
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal and a strong advantage in language proficiency in Norwegian/Scandinavian languages;
  • Knowledge of standard ICT office support tools.
