 Logistics Officer Alfasher Area Office (National Position)

NRC resumed operations in Sudan in 2020, providing humanitarian assistance, protection, and durable solutions. Our country programme integrates all of NRC’s six core competencies (camp management, education, ICLA, livelihoods, shelter, and WASH), and provides a rapid response capacity (including for the recent refugee emergency in eastern Sudan), and thematic capacities for cash and markets-based approaches, advocacy, digital modes of assistance, and co-leading various technical and strategic coordination platforms.

Role and responsibilities

The purpose of a Logistic officer is to provide the day-to-day implementation of the logistic function’s responsibility.   

Generic responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, SOP’s and donor requirements
  2. Implement delegated logistic functions portfolio according to Plan of Action
  3. Conduct and follow up daily operational logistic activities
  4. Support the administration of resources so that deliverables are achieved within set budgets, timelines and standards
  5. Prepare and develop logistic reports as required by Country/Area office
  6. Support in development of SOPs as requested
  7. Ensure proper filing of all support documents
  8. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the logistic function
  9. Support setup and development of field offices in the Area
  10. Perform other duties, as assigned by Line Manager

Specific responsibilities

  • In cooperation with the line manager and the logistics team, apply procedures for logistics, procurement, and transport management, fleet and warehouse in accordance with NRC guidelines, policies and Code of Conduct.
  • Identify, assess and manage suitable and reliable suppliers, vendors, providers and contractors of goods and services in support of programme implementation in accordance with NRC logistics Guidelines.
  • Conduct procurement processes according to the needs of the programme accountably, transparently and with excellent communication to requesters and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update all procurement and logistics tools according to NRC Logistic Guidelines at all-time including Contract Tracker, Procurement Tracking Sheet, Vendors Database, Assets Tracker, Stock Report.
  • Manage the vehicle fleet, including optimising the use and supervising maintenance. Supervise drivers.
  • Ensure proper procurement procedures and file management implementation in accordance with NRC logistics Guidelines.
  • Supervise the logistics assistant and support them in day-to-day procurement, asset logging, facility and vehicle checks and maintenance.
  • Ensure that all NRC facilities in the area office are well maintained and safety equipment is in place and regularly checked.
  • Manage the storage of NRC stock items in the Area office safely and accountably in accordance with NRC guidelines.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Bachelor degree in business administration, logistics, procurements or related field with minimum three years’ experience of working as a logistics officer in a humanitarian or development context.

Team leadership, inter-personal and inter-cultural skills and documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.

Good cultural awareness and sensitivity. Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential and attention to details, problem solving skill, excellent time management skills

Technical management expertise relevant to the role. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities. Fluency in English and Arabic both written and verbal. 

Preferable to be from Alfasher area.

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions

Duty station: Alfasher with almost 40% travel.
