Organizational Setting The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through its Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems, for Better production, Better nutrition, a Better environment and a Better life, leaving no one behind. The main aim of the FAO Country Office, which is headed by an FAO Representative (FAOR), is to assist the host country government to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to develop the agriculture, fisheries, and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. The FAO Representation in Malawi is developing and implementing field programmes and projects based on the FAO Country Programming Framework (CPF) in Malawi. The four priorities of the CPF are: 1) Conducive agricultural policy and investment environment; 2) Food and nutrition security and livelihoods; 3) Governance of the environment, natural resources and ecosystems; and 4) Resilience to climate change and climate variations. The position is located in the FAO Representation in Malawi (FRMLW). Reporting Lines
The Deputy FAOR in Malawi reports to the FAO Representative with the functional guidance from the Senior Field Programme Officer and the Programme Officer (FAOR Network) in the Regional Office for Africa (RAF). He/she collaborates with the relevant technical units at headquarters, the relevant government institutions, United Nations (UN) agencies and other development partners. Technical Focus
Planning, organizing, coordinating and reporting to the FAO Representative on programme development, implementation, resource mobilization, as well as office management in line with FAO rules, regulations and procedures. Key Results
Leadership and technical expertise in coordinating the planning, implementation and reporting of the Country Programming Framework (CPF) focusing on key results in line with the results matrix of the CPF in accordance with and derived from the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) process and related FAO programmes and projects.
