Full time, 3, 5 years contract

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. To support us with this important responsibility the International Office CEE/CIS/ME is looking for a committed: Head of Programmes Development 

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Supports and monitors strategic programme development, planning and implementation of programmes, provides tailored technical expertise in line with SOS Children’s Villages vision, mission, values, strategy, policies, and brand to selected 4-5 Member Associations
  •  Advise Member Associations in the development of national and programme strategies, mid-term and annual plans to ensure alignment with federation strategy, policies, and standards
  •  Advise Member Associations in planning new, changing or ending ongoing programmes and projects, check quality of programme ideas and concepts
  •  Provide and organise expertise to Member Associations in the implementation of federation strategy, policies and standards to achieve quality and planned results in programmes
  •  Monitor Member Associations KPIs, trends, achievement of planned results, compliance with federation policies and standards. Support the development and implementation of Member associations’ Quality Management approach
  •  Provide support in recruitment, orientation and on-going development of National Programme Directors in the respective MAs
  •  Responsible within own area of work to raise awareness of the SOS Child Protection Policy principles and to prevent and protect children from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination

 

Requirements:

  • University degree  in  social  sciences,  social  work  or psychology
  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in the field of child welfare, alternative care, prevention of separation social services, child protection
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management position the field of child welfare and child protection
  • Experience in programme planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in conducting training, workshops and other capacity building activities
  • Strong analytical and networking skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Readiness to travel at least 30% of working time

 

Following assets are an advantage:

  • Experience in NGO sector
  • Moderation, facilitation skills
  • Experienced in virtual team work
