Summary: 

The function of this position as Lead Project Manager is to be overall responsible for the implementation of the project: Reducing Climate Impact of Rice Production in Indonesia (ID-012)

The project is funded by the SWITCH-Asia Programme, a programme running under the European Union and will be running for three years, starting in January 2022. This project is specifically funded under the programmes Priority 1: Supporting MSMEs in reducing the impact of their industrial production, improving resource efficiency and adopting circular practices.

The main responsibilities of the Lead Project Manager will include: 

  • Coordination with project partners and Preferred by Nature project team
  • Lead the local project team
  • Responsible for the project budget
  • Development and implementation of the Project Implementation Plan
  • Carry out reporting to Funder and responsible for Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Ensuring project progression according to plan and budget 
  • Ensuring Funder satisfaction by delivering service quality and timely deliverables,
  • Ensuring all relevant administrative processes are completed
  • Risk identification and risk management
  • Lead project steering committee, project management group and advisory group meetings

The Lead Project Manager will be overall responsible for adhering to deadlines for technical outputs, deliverables and outputs for the project.

Coordination with project partners and Preferred by Nature project team
Project partners: coordinate with the local project partners on their responsibilities to ensure proper implementation of the project activities. Plan and participate in coordination meetings. 
Preferred by Nature project team: coordinate and lead the Preferred by Nature project team in accordance with the project activities Preferred by Nature are responsible for and general project management with staff in Indonesia and other team members based outside of Indonesia but involved in the project implementation. Plan and participate in coordination meetings. 

Manage the local project team
Be the line manager for relevant local project team members.

Responsible for project budget
Responsible for the planning and overall monitoring of the project budget, supported by the financial staff assigned to support the financial monitoring of the project. 

Development and implementation of Project Implementation Plan 
Develop the Project Implementation Plan during the inception phase of the project (first three months) and responsible for ongoing management of the plan throughout the project. 

Carry out reporting to Funder
Development of the reports to the Funder in accordance with the agreed Funder Agreement, done in collaboration with relevant project team members in Preferred by Nature. 

Responsible for Monitoring & Evaluation 
Develop and present the Project Monitoring Plan at the kick-off meeting with project partners and Preferred by Nature team. Responsible for the overall monitoring and evaluation throughout the project implementation period. 

Ensuring project progression according to plan and budget 
General project management of the overall project activities and coordination and management of project partners and Preferred by Nature team members. Ensuring the work is delivered to meet Preferred by Nature quality standard and according to the budget through the monitoring of staff time and expenses.

Ensuring Funder satisfaction by delivering service quality and timely deliverables
Monitor and review the quality of all outputs (reports, activities, events, etc.) to meet quality and timeliness. Communicate any potential delay of meeting deadlines to the Funder as well as any challenge that needs to be discussed with the Funder.

Ensuring all relevant administrative processes are completed
Ensure that all administrative processes as required by the project consortium and the Funder are completed in consultation with relevant project team members in Preferred by Nature.

Other tasks as requested by the line manager.
 

Professional requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably within agronomy, agriculture, or other natural science major
  • Proven experience of minimum 5+ years within project management of larger national or international projects
  • Communication skills - excellent written and verbal communication in English and Bahasa Indonesia is a must
  • Proven experience with Monitoring and Evaluation of project implementation.
  • Experience working within the rice sector in Indonesia is an advantage
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and networking skills
  • Strong computer knowledge (Microsoft word, excel, power point, and Salesforce).
  • Experience in working on projects funded by public funders such as the European Union, UN, USAID, etc.

Position details

  • Work time: 40 hours/week   
  • The position reports to our Project and Solutions Senior Manager
  • Working location: Preferred by Nature office Indonesia  
  • Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Expected starting date: January 2022
