The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies.  It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 190 projects and has committed USD 10.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Position Objective

The Employee Experience Coordinator reporting to the Head of HR, is responsible for implementing efficient and effective people-centered practices and processes, in order to offer an outstanding work experience to potential and existing staff, consistent with GCF’s Employee Value Proposition. Through digital technologies s/he will transform all the employee’s journeys from outreach to offboarding. S/he will also act as Deputy Head of HR, complementing the Head of HR responsibilities.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Purpose

  • Assess and ensure the alignment between the policies, processes and systems applicable to each stage in the employee journey (from outreach to offboarding), achieving high levels of effectiveness and adequate risk management.
  • Lead the digital transformation of HR process and service delivery in order to increase efficiency, with an employee centric focus.
  • Ensures the provision of critical business reporting, information and insight to senior management on workforce trends, gaps and emerging issues to proactively anticipate, plan and meet future workforce needs.

Engagement

  • Represents GCF in career fairs and selected outreach events.
  • Facilitates and guides the work of the HRBP team and HR analyst through the digital transformation efforts.
  • Enhances relationships with similar organizations to exchange information, understand their HR practices and take advantage of the lessons learnt.
  • Participates in HR networking events — both within the IO system and the private sector

Delivery

  • Leads the delivery of services to GCF’s employees during the different stages of their employee journey.
  • Leads the optimization of all operational processes and automation projects with an emphasis of increased efficiency and productivity.
  • Provides support and advise to line managers on how to engage their teams and effectively create an employee experience consistent with the GCF’s employee value proposition.
  • Implements and maintains an adequate feedback system that consistently measure the HR operations performance and employee experience with special focus on innovation, development, collaboration, inclusiveness and wellbeing.
  • Ensures that the conflict resolution mechanisms and grievance architecture is in place and functioning.

 

Required experience and qualifications*

  • Master’s degree in human resources, administration or another relevant field; or Bachelor’s plus 2 additional years of experience;
  • 13 years of relevant professional work experience with at least 2-3 years in managerial positions; experience in consultancy firms is a plus;
  • Strong knowledge of HR process and trends in the field; HR certifications such as SHRM and HRCI are valuable;
  • Experience in international organizations is a plus;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another UN language an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, detailed oriented, flexible, adaptable and curious;
  • Planning and project management skills are required;
  • Have a good understanding of workplace technology and how it impacts the employee experience; data-driven and innovative;
  • Strong commitment with continuous improvement;
  • Collaborative, able to break down silos across departments and manage cross-functional teams to accomplish goals.
