Background

The Project for Livelihood Promotion in Tajik-Afghan Cross-border Areas (LITACA) is implemented in the framework of UNDP Sustainable Economic Development (SED) Cluster. LITACA is a four-year initiative, financed by the Government of Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency and implemented by UNDP Tajikistan in cooperation with UNDP Afghanistan. LITACA is aimed to improve border communities’ access to rural infrastructure and public services, to increase employment opportunities for men and women, and to improve access for cross border trade, dialogue and partnerships which includes opportunities for rural women as well as vulnerable and marginalized groups, then there will be improved economic stability and community resilience in the border areas.
 
LITACA is implemented in 10 districts of Khatlon Region of Tajikistan (Bokhtar, Kulob, Shaartus, Jayhun, Kabodiyan, Panj, Dusti, Farkhor, Hamadoni and Shamsiddin Shohin) and Provinces of Badakhshan, Kunduz, Takhar and Balkh of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
 
The following outcomes and outputs are envisaged to be achieved by LITACA:
 
Outcome: Sustainable and equitable livelihoods in cross-border areas of Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
 
Output 1: Employment opportunities for communities living in border provinces of Afghanistan and Tajikistan increased.
Output 2:LITACA products’ access to market enhanced.
Output 3:Access to cross-border trade improved.
UNDP’s Sustainable Economic Development Cluster is an integrated portfolio of projects that addresses issues affecting the lives of vulnerable groups of people on the ground in a holistic and cross-disciplinary manner, aiming at the sustainable economic growth and sustainable livelihoods of people of the country. UNDP SED Cluster supports localization and operationalization of the SDGs and the implementation of Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy 2030 and Mid-Term Development Programmes. The mission of UNDP SED Cluster is to support achievement of the CPD Outcome 2 in terms of promoting decent and productive employment, improved access to specialized knowledge and innovation and more favourable business environment especially for entrepreneurs and farmers

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

•Provide necessary support (written, oral) in developing relevant reports and documents in English;
•Assist in development of brief informations of products produced within the One Village One Product initiative;
•Support in identifying needs of the One Village One Product initiative members;
•Collection, compilation and update of the information when needed;
•Collect data on impact of implementation of various project activities related to livelihood improvement of targeted commnities; 
•Maintain database of the project activities participants;
•Extracting, inputting, copying and filling data from various sources;
•E-archiving of the documents and assisting in translation of project related documents;
•Assistance in conduction of various events (presentations, steering committee, field missions, workshops, assessments, etc.). Liaise with meeting participants and organizers on logistical matters of project events, meetings, seminars and workshops

Required Skills and Experience

  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) in the areas of management, administraion, finance or other relavnt field;
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Internet;
  • Good knowledge of English, Tajik and Russian languages;
  • Personal motivation in work, being a good team member, having commitment, sense of responsibility, being pro-active, accuracy with figures and documents, friendly personality and positive attitude
