Job Overview:
The Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR) was established by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as the private administrator of the Kansas Refugee Program in 2016, when the State of Kansas opted out of the federal U.S. Refugee Program. Serving as the Replacement Designee for the State of Kansas, KSOR administers funding and programming through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Refugee Resettlement (ORR). KSOR helps to shape the state and local contexts for resettlement and integration, building structures and systems that ensure both refugees and receiving communities are supported.
The Resource and Outreach Coordinator works directly with the Director of KSOR to develop resources for resettlement agencies across the state through collaboration, research, evaluation, and partnership building. The Coordinator works closely with all stakeholders to coordinate resources for refugees and other ORR-eligible populations. The Coordinator’s scope includes but is no limited to coordinating housing and legal services.

Housing
• Develop and maintain contacts with housing staff at National and local resettlement agencies
• Develop innovative long-term housing options beyond traditional rentals
• Intervene in areas of the state where housing access and availability is becoming a concern
• Participate in national and local-level workgroups to identify solutions to emergency housing needs.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local emergency management officials and/or other entities, such as housing rental companies, to secure short-term housing to support initial resettlement.
• Collaborate with local resettlement agencies to ensure that their clients' immediate housing needs are being met.
• Identify emergency housing assistance through other federal, state, or locally funded programs to supplement gaps in cash assistance and housing costs. States should be cognizant of implications for their clients' eligibility for other public assistance programs should emergency housing assistance count as income.
• Engage with a variety of stakeholders and housing advocates to build relationships and identify options that may lead to increased housing supply over time.
• Identify innovative models in securing affordable housing suitable to the needs of new refugee arrivals, such as working with housing developers with available units and other partners that focus on housing solutions.
• Monitor local resettlement agencies' housing activities

Legal Services
• Identify immigration attorneys and accredited representatives in the state of Kansas
• Create and maintain a statewide resource map/directory of legal services
• Develop mechanisms for communications and information sharing
• Coordinate with USCIS staff on information sharing

Other:
• Maintain current and detailed knowledge of services available for ORR-eligible populations in Kansas
• Develop and distribute appropriate communications to stakeholders
• Assist in the coordination of local community resources
• Be responsive to requests for assistance from local resettlement agencies and other stakeholders
• Participate in community activities benefiting refugees in the area
• Troubleshoot local refugee issues in Kansas
• Perform other related duties and activities as appropriate

Job Requirements:
Education: 4-year college degree required.

Work Experience: Minimum one year operational or research.

COVID-19 Vaccination: Proof of vaccination must be provided prior to hire.

Working Environment:

This position is based in the KSOR office in Wichita, Kansas. Standard work environment. Some local and statewide travel expected for meetings and events. CURRENTLY OBSERVING REMOTE WORKING OPERATIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
