Job Overview:

The IRC’s International Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) unit, a part of the External Relations (ER) department, leads on the organization’s engagement with corporations, foundations and international philanthropists globally. The USA Philanthropy (USA Phil) unit, also a part of the ER department, leads on the organization’s work with USA-based High-Net-Worth Individuals.

The Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services Team, a separate unit headed also by the VP, IPP, aims to is to fulfill and deliver the entire suite of partnership and philanthropic services of both the High Value teams, namely IPP and USA Philanthropy, that together generate more than 80% of the Organization’s annual revenue from the private-sector. Together these teams comprise a staff size of over 100 experts ranging from specialized fundraising and expert-service delivery.

The Officer, Strategic Planning and Operations (IPP & GPPS) is a crucial member of this team and is responsible for effective project management and day-to-day operational oversight and execution of critical processes across IPP and GPPS. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can own the effective planning and implantation of projects in a collaborative way. They will have experience and interest in leading projects and improving operational processes. Importantly, they will also have a constructive and imaginative approach to work, a willingness to take on tasks large and small for the team, and the ability to engage professionally with staff from all backgrounds and levels.

Major Responsibilities:

·Project design, management and execution: With guidance from the Director, Strategic Planning and Operations, design and implement highly critical initiatives and special projects across IPP and GPPS. This could include but is not limited to: i) Planning and organization of team off-sites; ii) establishing organization development initiatives, including partnering with managers to produce meaningful job descriptions and carrying out a highly effective onboarding plan for new talent; and iii) supporting revision and roll-out of new account management protocols;

·Implementation and continuous improvement of critical business processes: Be responsible for critical business processes, including consistently identifying ways to unburden staff, creating more efficiency, and improving quality associated with these processes which include but are not limited to:

oPreparing, analyzing and maintaining reports across various strategic priorities of the department, and translating the data and ideas into comprehensive and concise reports;

oDeveloping and rolling out new systems to monitor technical, functional and other training and professional development opportunities;

oCollaborating with IPP, GPPS and Business and Ops team to develop and manage system for tracking team metrics;

oSupervising all IT roll-out initiatives including but not limited to Salesforce and Integra;

oBuilding improved processes for tracking recruitment and collaborating with HR and Finance;

oMaintaining or developing new processes to support the Director to review budgets, track expenses and accounts management;

oSupport project management of specific creative assets or major moments between GPPS and the Marketing and Mobilization office as-needed.

·Partnership with IPP and GPPS central team members and other liaisons for ad-hoc responsibilities: Work with IPP and GPPS central team members and others (Finance, Business Operations, Fundraising teams) to find opportunities for improving effectiveness and efficiency in systems and processes, and take initiative to make improvements; represent GPPS and IPP in conversations with professionalism, creativity, and problem-solving focus.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience: Approximately five years of previous work leading and implementing projects, as well as improving operational processes in a fast-paced office setting. Must demonstrate experience and motivation to not only establish key processes, but also seek ways to continuously improve them. Experience working with senior leaders and junior professionals in highly constructive and collaborative way is critical. Experience and/or interest in working in a non-profit development department or the humanitarian sector preferred.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Minimum:

·Strong Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and database management skills.

·Ability to develop thoughtful project management plans and implement them in timely and detailed fashion.

·Ability to receive guidance and subsequently work independently to implement key initiatives.

·Ability to use advanced virtual-working technology and platforms (Slack, Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc.)

·Shown organizational and time management skills:the ability to work accurately and productively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.

·Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills: the ability to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external contacts with confidence and poise.

·Strong listening skills and the ability to accurately follow directions.

·Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to deadlines.

·The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take initiative independently.

·Commitment to respect and maintain confidentiality of donor information.

Preferred:

·Experience with Salesforce or other donor database management systems.

·Experience working across global markets and collaborators.

·Experience servicing global teams of different functional-experts and relevant needs.

Working Environment

This role requires working remotely full or part time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.
