Background: New Roots Charlottesville supports refugee food security and aids in their transition to the community through gardening, nutrition education, local food access initiatives, and small-scale farming.
Scope of Work: The New Roots Assistant Training & Technical Assistance Content Developer Intern will work with the New Roots Manager to develop photographic and/or video training modules for new and beginning farmers with limited or proficient English language skills.
Responsibilities:
•Work with New Roots Manager and refugee gardeners/farmers to identify topics of interest and develop series outlines along with short and long photo captions
•Conduct photo shoots at New Roots locations around Charlottesville involving New Roots staff and refugee gardeners and farmers when possible
•Edit photos and assemble series in Power Point
•Edit video segments
•Back-up and maintain all project files in an orderly fashion using ‘Box’ and Google Docs
•Participate in photo/video series reviews and adjust products based on feedback
•Attend occasional virtual meetings with the larger project team.
•Attend IRC volunteer orientation and virtual training sessions on Plain Language and Plain Speaking
