Org. Setting and Reporting

The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Hospital Director on day-to-day operational and administrative matters concerned with nursing, midwifery and theatre services; receives technical supervision and guidance from the Field Nursing Services Officer.

The incumbent of this post supervises the Senior Staff Nurse in Qalqilia Hospital

Responsibilities

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A) Organizes and manages all activities related to the effective deployment of nursing, midwifery and theatre staff including the schedule of rota and on-call systems to ensure that an appropriate level of service is maintained in all hospital departments.
(B) Supervises all hospital departments to ensure that Technical Instructions are adhered to, the nursing process applied and patients/clients are managed effectively;
(C) Reviews all in-patient records to ensure accuracy and timely completion;
(D) Ensures that procedures are developed and implemented for the effective use and timely replacement of supplies/equipment (including pharmaceuticals used in the wards);
(E) Coordinates action to ensure that a high standard of hygiene is maintained and infection control procedures are implemented;
(F) Supervises the organization and management of the hospital kitchen and housekeeping services including availability of sufficient linen, and reports to the Hospital Director poor standards of hygiene and quality/preparation of food;
(G) Orders appropriate patients' diet in coordination with the concerned Specialists and discusses food requirements for the special diet with the Administrative Officer;
(H) Coordinates regular in-service and orientation training programmes for all nursing staff assigned to the hospital;
(I) Works a flexible shift system so that periodic supervision is provided to all shifts and departments;
(J) Prepares the annual leave roster for the nursing staff;
(K) Participates in regular meetings with other senior staff members to review the quality of services provided to the patients/clients and the organization/management of the hospital;
(L) Reports on nursing activities on a monthly basis to the Field Nursing Officer through the Hospital Director;
(M) Participates in the selection of nursing staff of the hospital;
(N) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Education

A university degree in Nursing from a recognized university.

DESIRABLE OUALIFICIATIONS
Post graduate degree or diploma in health service management/administration or training;
Experience in clinical training and supervision.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years experience in nursing.

Languages

Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Monthly basic salary USD1,642.10, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate.
