Overview of position

Chelsea group is looking to hire an experiences Operations Supervisor.

Role objectives
  • Act as overall in charge of the plant during off office hours, weekends & to inform immediately the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager & the Plant Manager on any abnormalities in the plant or any changes of the operational activities for further actions as needed.

  • Conduct & maintain liaison with the grid control center for any operational instructions, changes, outages, etc., whether it is coming from JIRAMA or from the plant itself.

  • Supervise all the operations activities being performed in the plant during his shift & verify the fulfillment of the operations procedures established by the company, ensuring the continuity of the plant’s operations.

  • Ensure the correct operation of the engine generator sets, other machineries & equipment through monitoring & analyzing of their operating performance data & other operative indicators such as results of laboratory analysis on lube oil, cooling water & fuel, the lube oil & fuel consumptions, the engine, other machineries vibration level, the pressures & temperatures readings are within the operating limits.

  • Lead in carrying out the needed immediate preventive or corrective measures that is within his capability on detected operational abnormalities or to inform & coordinate with the maintenance department of such abnormality for necessary actions to ensure that the machines remain operational or to prevent any costly breakdown.

  • Plan & organize the members of the shift to attend to the priorities of the plant by considering the technical ability of the person to the equipment to obtain the maximum efficiency.

  • Write & maintain the plant’s operational records during his shift such as energy productions, consumptions, relevant activities, etc., that happened during the shift for the preparation of daily reports.

  • Coordinate the needed maintenance to be carried out on the machines or equipment in case of abnormality by handing over to the maintenance department with the corresponding work requisition for preparation of work order & carrying out of the needed corrective actions.

  • Coordinate with the control room & field operators on the prevailing operation of machines, to ensure that the security norms & established operational procedures are applied.

  • Prepare report of events that happened during the shift to maintain the flow of information to his / her superiors, to ensure fluidity, transparency & efficiency of operations.

  • Ensure that the control room & field operators are performing their respective duties diligently to ensure maximum monitoring of the machines & all accurate readings on corresponding checklist are recorded for the machines’ performance evaluation. 

  • Verify that the levels of the different tanks installed in the plant are operating to capacity to prevent potentials spills.

  • Ensure that there is always a proper & punctual turn over of duties & all pending or vital activities of the outgoing shift to the incoming shift so that the transfer of information is done in an efficient way.

  • Identify & implement or propose the necessary training, to ensure that the personnel under his command have the skills & the necessary knowledge for the performance of their functions.

  • Preserve the integrity, security of the personnel & machineries or the plant’s facility as a whole.

  • Perform other works that your superiors may assign to you.

Project reporting

This role reports to the Operations Manager.

Key competencies
  • Must be a Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineer with at least 3 years’ experience as Shift Supervisor on a large capacity gas or diesel engine power plant & 7 years minimum experience working in power plants.

  • Computer literate & must have knowledge working on any Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software.

  • Above average communication skills.

Team management

This role has no team managament responsibility.
