Head of Fundraising and Donor Care Unit– We Effect, Stockholm

About the job

  • Ensure and promote a rights-based approach in all work that we do.
  • Lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of the budget and work plan for the Fundraising and Donor Care Unit, including monitoring and management of deviations.
  • Manage unit staff, including recruitments, coaching, line-management, performance management, work environment at the unit and towards the unit employees.
  • Lead the strategic work around private fundraising within the global organisation, including follow-up of the funding strategy.
  • Build and develop We Effect and Vi Agroforestry’s long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with our supporters.
  • Contribute to effective cooperation between staff in the global organisation.

The fundraising unit is part of the marketing department based in Stockholm, reporting to our Marketing Director. The marketing department also consists of the unit for Strategic Relations and Major Grants and the team for Marketing Communication that supports the whole department.

In this role, you are employed by We Effect, but are also responsible for our sister organisation Vi Agroforestry (Vi-skogen). The Marketing Department works with both organisations.


Who are you?

You have a relevant degree at university level or equivalent knowledge required in other ways and at least three years’ experience of qualified work with private fundraising. Since this is a management position, we also want you to have at least two years’ experience in a management or leadership position. You have a passion for and in-depth experience of working with both traditional and digital fundraising. You have excellent communicative skills in both English and Swedish.

If you have experience from cooperative business development and/or experience of development cooperation donor relations, especially Sida and EU, we see it as an extra plus. Since we are a global organization, we also hope that you have work and/or life experience from one or several of our programme countries.

As a leader you formulate vision and goals as well as the way forward in dialogue with your team. You build mutual trust and collaborate with your staff and with other internal and external partners. When needed you can adjust the work to new prerequisites, and you are open to try new creative methods. You are decisive, accountable, and communicative aiming to create clarity and flow in the work. Empowering others is important for you, and you like to see your staff perform and grow in their roles. You make sure that you as a team reach and celebrate results. You like to work in an intercultural organization, and we hope that you can further contribute to our diversity of experiences.
