Digital Program Analyst / Associate - Data Engineer

AIIB is looking for a Data Engineer to join the data team. They will be responsible for expanding and optimizing the data sets and data pipeline, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up.

 

The Data Engineer will join the data team in contributing to Bank-wide data initiatives and will ensure that optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The Data Engineer will serve as a member of the Information Technology Department (ITD).

Responsibilities:

  • Identity new data sets structured and/or unstructured both from internal and external sources; able to assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements.
  • Create and maintain scalable data pipeline, build out new integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity; build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and cloud technologies.
  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to transform data to a format that can be used by data and analytics experts to build greater functionality in the Bank's data platform.
  • Work with data power users, digital program managers, and data analysts to assist with their data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Collaborate with data platform implementation teams to ensure that optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.

 

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, informatics, information systems or other relevant quantitative fields. 
  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant IT experience with at least 2 years of data engineer experience.
  • Extensive experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes and ability to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Proven record of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets. Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Demonstrable understanding of machine learning development, deployment and optimization process.   
  • Able to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
  • Previous experience with cloud platforms and cloud service providers (e.g., Azure) and cloud solutions/services.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable "big data" data stores.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
