Communications Assistant, Mexico Country Program

The Communications Assistant will be responsible to assist the Country Representative and other Mexico team members in the development of creative communication pieces for the events, publications, social media posts, and other relevant outlets for the implementation of the Country's projects and workstreams, with the aim to create media presence and increase visibility.

PURPOSE
 
  • support the implementation of GGGI Mexico’s strategic communications plan with the design of graphic communication products and content creation
  • Ensure high quality standards in all communications deliveries to be carried out effectively and will troubleshoot when needed to support a smooth overall development of the strategic communications plan.
  • Keep abreast of new approaches and tools on communications and, provide training to GGGI-Mexico staff as requested.
  • Support all internal and external communications of the GGGI-Mexico program, particularly as it pertains to the GCF and UKPact projects.

 

ENGAGEMENT

 

  • Support the program’s communications under working closely with the Country Representative, the country team, and relevant HQ units.
  • Engage with the Mexico team under the guidance of the CR for supporting on all other communication pieces as needed.
  • Support and accompany the Country Representative in the establishment and maintenance of relationships with the communications community in from Embassies, development partners, key green growth stakeholders and government counterparts.

 

DELIVERY

 

Support Public Relations related activities

 

  • Frequently update the media outlet directory.
  • Support the CR in engaging with the communications offices of GGGI Mexico counterparts for specific event planning, media coverage, etc.

 

Digital platforms

 

  • Create and design innovative content (infographics, videos, gifs, etc.) for social media based on given guidelines to support specific activities or campaigns within the strategic communications plan.
  • Participate actively in content planning for GGGI Mexico digital platforms and offer ideas to improve our social media metrics.
  • Support the preparation and execution of social media plans and campaigns.
  • Keep up to date the 'key dates calendar' and design graphic pieces to mark the most relevant celebrations or commemorations.
  • Schedule social media posts according to the social media content calendar.
  • Assist in the coverage of live and online events by taking photographs, recording interviews, or posting content on our social media channels in coordination with the Communications Assistant.
  • Monitor and record the analytics of GGGI Mexico’s social media and other digital communication outlets.
  • Support in reporting social media trends

 

 

Publications and other communication materials

 

  • Support technical staff in designing and editing communication materials, such as banners, back stages, brochures, balances, presentations, infographics, newsletters, among others.
  • Publish blog entries and updates related to events and reports on the GGGI Mexico website.
  • Support and attend GGGI Mexico events covering the following: photographic record, Twitter and FB posts, video coverage with short interviews and video-capsules, recording of conferences, design of event materials such as invitations, banners, speakers resume, evaluation templates, etc.
  • Management of suppliers contracted for the design of GGGI Mexico publications.
  • Keep GGGI Mexico Program Brochure up to date.
  • Keep Mexico Group SharePoint folder up to date by uploading all relevant files created to support events, activities, and campaign: photos, videos, capsules, blog posts, links with Twitters, participants´ lists, backing images, graphic designs, brochures, year-balances, informative pieces for media, relevant publications.
  • Support the development of year Programmatic Communications Plan.
  • Support other related activities when required.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS
 
QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • At least Undergraduate degree in Communications and Journalism, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience preferably in communications areas related to GGGI´s purposes.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and active usage of various social media outlets.
  • Advanced skill level with the Adobe Creative Cloud tools (especially Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro)
  • Excellent experience in designing posts, infographics, videos, communication materials, and others.
  • A keen interest and creativity in using innovative modern technologies to deliver messages.
  • Strong graphic designing skills, photo recording and video production.
  • Strong communication, event management, media engagement and diplomatic skills
  • Experience / knowledge of green growth and sustainable development is a plus, as well as regional relevant experience.
  • Exceptional ability to pay attention to details, particularly when it comes to communications pieces and following rules & guidelines.
  • Excellent Spanish knowledge and good English writing and speaking skills are required.
  • Must be a Mexican citizen, or a foreigner holding a valid Work Visa
  • Ability to work well under pressure and have a flexible approach to tasks given.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

The Communications Assistant, Mexico Country Program is an X4 grade level in GGGI’s Mexico salary scale. For X4 Mexico grade, the base salary starts from USD 20,500 to USD 30,196. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate's experience, academic background and internal  equity. GGGI provides 13% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision. This is a national position and does not include relocation benefits.
