The job holder is responsible for Medair’s response to Cyclone; assists in ensuring good communication with other Medair programmes, departments and affiliate offices globally and ensures the monitoring, evaluation, and capitalisation of all aspects of Medair’s projects in the east.

Project Overview

The cyclone BATSIRAY entered Madagascar 14km north of the city Mananjary at 20:00 on the 5th of February 2022 with average wind speed of 165km/h and gusts to 230km/h. First overflights suggest a devastation of infrastructure by 90%. The public power and water systems are broken. Medair with the support of UNICEF and SDC will be responding to this crisis by distributing 3,000 hygiene kits to an estimated 15,000 people, disinfecting 40 wells, and rehabilitating 30 latrines. These vital interventions will prevent the spread of waterborne illnesses and provide communities with sources of safe drinking water.
