Location

This is a position based in Oval, near Kennington Park, SW London with possible occasional UK travel.

 

Starting Date & Initial Contract Details

As soon as possible. Fixed term, full-time permanent for 12 months.

  • Normal working hours are 37.5 hours per week pro rata to be worked between the hours of 9.00a.m. to 5.30p.m.
  • Willingness to be flexible in terms of hours worked, particularly evening and weekeds, at occasional, but inevitable moments of crisis.
  • Salary: £28,146 per annum pro rata.

Role and Responsibilities

We’re seeking a dynamic individual to support Medair UK’s engagement with its supporter constituencies in the United Kingdom. You will support Medair UK’s interactions with individuals, trusts and foundations,  churches and alumni network.  You will be an integral part of this growing Christian charity and will enable support for the life-saving work Medair delivers to some of the world’s most vulnerable people. The purpose is to support Medair UK’s engagement with its supporter constituencies in the United Kingdom.

About you

You will be well organised and have well-developed project management and administration skills. You will be a good communicator and have good writing and people skills. You will be IT literate and have experience of using databases and CRM systems. Creative, with an understanding of the humanitarian sector, as well as what motivates people’s desire to give.  You will be able to use this knowledge and experience to engage with individuals, trusts and foundations, churches and Medair UK’s alumni network.

Key Activity Areas

Trusts and Foundations

  • Working with the Engagement Manager –Grants be responsible for all aspects of the application process for small and medium -sized grants from trusts and foundations in support of Medair’s work, growing financial support from small to medium sized trusts as a result.
  • Ensuring all applications are prepared and submitted in a timely fashion in line with Medair UK’s trust application pipeline and all application details are logged on Medair UK’s CRM Salesforce.
  • Ensuring all grants from trusts and foundations are correctly allocated to Medair programmes, with the appropriate grant card on Medair’s project management platform Portfolio and all grants from trusts and foundations are acknowledged correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensuring new potential grant making donors are identified and approached to fund Medair’s work in the field.

 

Alumni Support

  • Manage the Medair UK alumni network. Prepare, manage and disseminate all Medair UK communications to the UK based members of the Alumni network.
  • Administer the fundraising engagement with the alumni network in the UK, through the dissemination of fundraising assets, and monitor the effectiveness of this engagement in terms of fundraising performance.
  • Work with the alumni network to develop relationships with churches with a view to generating financial support and acquisition of new individual donors.
  • Maintain accurate and current records about alumni on Medair UK’s CRM and various other communication platforms, for instance Campaign Monitor.

 

Church Liaison – Profile raising

  • Ensure supporting churches and Christian agencies receive appropriate communications from Medair UK, including Medair publications such as Medair News News and the Prayer updates on a regular basis.
  • Co-ordinate all requests for speakers in Churches ensuring that, wherever possible, a Medair UK staff member or Alumni, is available to speak.
  • Ensure that all those speaking in churches are appropriately resourced and supported, before and after each event. Grow the number of churches aware of Medair.
  • Ensure supporting churches and Christian agencies have access to Medair UK’s profile raising products and materials, including video and powerpoint for use in services and on church websites.

 

Church Liaison – Fundraising

  • Ensure supporting churches receive Medair UK’s fundraising campaigns materials in the format best suited for the particular church
  • Maintain and update key contact details for each supporting church on Medair UK’s CRM
  • Be responsible for the receipting and acknowledgement of all financial support from churches.

 

Individuals

  • Assist in the preparation, management and dissemination of all Medair UK fundraising communications to the UK based donors and supporters as appropriate.
  • Assist in the production of data lists for use in fundraising and communications with Medair UK’s individual supporters.
  • Assist in the maintenance of accurate and current records about Medair UK’s supporters and donors in Medair UK’s CRM and various other communication platforms, for instance Campaign Monitor.
  • Working with the Resources Manager and Engagement Officer – Individuals ensure that donors receive timely and accurate communications relating to their giving.

 

Tasks common to all staff

  • Act as an ambassador for Medair UK at all times when liaising externally and internally.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of Medair brand across all relevant activities. Record information as necessary and comply at all times with requirements for handling personal / sensitive data.
  • Contribute to the annual planning and budgeting cycle, providing appropriate input from your area of responsibility. Adhere to the Medair values and mission at all times.

Qualifications/ Experiences

  • Relevant degree or equivalent, or significant work experience related to the charity sector preferably in an international relief/development organisation.
  • Professional marketing and communications/fundraising qualification and/or project management qualification desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
  • Inspired by and in full agreement with Medair’s Christian values and ethos. Ability to work cross-culturally.
  • Clear management of relationships to ensure positive outcomes. Effective networking skills and experience.
  • Understanding and experience of using fundraising databases to enhance the effectiveness of engagement activities. Understanding of humanitarian issues.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft office, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships internally and externally.
  • Willing to contribute to the spiritual life of the team including prayer meetings.
