CHAI’s team in Papua New Guinea is a dynamic and diverse team in addition to extended support that is available at the regional and global levels.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Management - 75%:

  • Execute all responsibilities related to financial management, including Banking, cash flow and Asset management.
  • Support the Country Manager with the resource planning (budgeting) process and ensure review, consolidation and submission of country budget within the timeframe.
  • Lead on and support programme teams in assessments and building financial management and capacity building of the partner
  • Process salary, benefits, taxes, compulsory insurance, and other expenses
  • Ensure quality and accurate monthly finance returns and reports/summaries
  • Prepare high-quality country financial reports by consolidating the country accounts in a computerized information system
  • Ensure internal control procedures exist and are followed
  • Review/monitor Country financial performance against budget, provide analysis/commentary on monthly basis
  • Ensure that all donor financial reporting requirements are complied 
  • Ensure CHAI meet all compliance with all statutory reporting requirements in the region including providing audited regional accounts for the Paupa New Guinea Government

HR Administration - 25%:

  • Ensure all HR related documents including personal files are in appropriate filling system both electronically and manual files
  • Substantial knowledge of the concept of Local Labor Law
  • Support Country Manager for recruiting process
  • Provide regular reports and necessary information upon request to Country Manager
  • Manage Staff’s contract extension and leave balance record
  • Other responsibilites as needed
Qualifications
  • University degree in Accounting or 3 or more years of experience in Accounting
  • 3 years experience with executing the finances at other organizations
  • Experience managing in Human Resources
  • Computer literacy: Fluent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, and ability to conduct internet research
  • Fluent in Ton Pisin
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical/legal issues
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and determination to meet deadlines
