Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).


In the face of the crisis unfolding in Ukraine, with millions of Ukrainians impacted and displaced, United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is ready to support United Nations partners in their response. We invite interested candidates in contributing to aid coordination, emergency, and humanitarian response efforts of the United Nations Country Teams in Moldova to express their interest by applying to this generic Description of Assignment (DoA). The application will be considered as a confirmation of general interest and availability at short notice to serve as a UN Volunteer. To become part of a recruitment process, you will have to apply to specific DoAs when they become available. Deployment will be made according to the open calls. We encourage interested applicants to apply early as there may be some positions required to be filled urgently. Please apply this DoA to show your interest and availability for the upcoming assignments. Applied candidates shall be contacted when their profile match with an actual DoA in order to proceed the actual application. Please note that you are encouraged to follow up the open calls. The category, duration and duty station could be varied according to the needs of UN Entities. Such details will be given with the actual DoAs.

Task description

This is a generic call for applications and does not contain a task description. All candidates from different academic backgrounds and work experience are highly encouraged to apply. It is critical to apply with an updated profile as you shall be contacted when your profile match with an opportunity. Please, make sure your internship, work, and volunteer experiences (including tasks during these experiences), academic qualifications, languages, current address, and other information are up to date. Some sample occupational areas may be required for emergency response and immediate relief operations in cross-border humanitarian aid and refugee support: Community Support and Engagement, Field Coordination (including Social Work and Site Lead), Information and Knowledge Management (including Communications and Public Information), Procurement and Logistic, Driver, Psychosocial Support (including Mental health professionals, staff counselling), Legal and related Counselling, Protection and Registration (including Enumeration), Admin and Finance Support, Human Resources, WASH, PSEAH, GBV, Resource mobilization and donor coordination, etc.
