Marketing & Mobilization

Marketing & Mobilization (M&M) is a dynamic team that is tasked with building the IRC’s global profile and brand, growing private revenue from deeper donor engagement and partnerships, and influencing our target audiences. The team is responsible for all of IRC's brand, communications, creative and content and digital engagement efforts.

Job Overview/Job Summary 

The Global Programs & Partnerships communications team, is part of the Marketing & Mobilization (M&M) department. The team works to showcase our programmatic and technical excellence, as well as support and highlight IRC’s partnerships with the private and philanthropic sectors and high value donors. Working in collaboration across IRC teams with interdependent objectives and strategies, the team leads communication that spotlights philanthropic partnerships and programmatic impact. 

This position will work directly with the global partnership services, philanthropy and high value teams, to support forward-looking and purposeful content and communications targeting key audiences and markets. 

Major Responsibilities 

The person in this role will be a communicator who:

  • Identifies and grows key media and influencer targets that go beyond the policy / humanitarian sectors and help build IRC’s profile with new audiences and markets.
  • Acts as a focal point for potential paid media partnerships, leading internal alignment around objectives and targets.
  • Works alongside our corporate, foundations, new business development and faith based giving teams to help service grant visibility requirements and scope brand profile opportunities. 
  • Evaluates and stewards opportunities with external organizations, such as films or promotion venues, in coordination with internal partners, including the Experiential Marketing and Entertainment Relations team.
  • In close collaboration with our Board Relations team, supports external profile and communications opportunities for the IRC Board that help raise brand awareness and increase visibility. 
  • Ensures that existing communications related partnership materials are kept up to date and contributes to the development of B2B messaging tailored to target audiences. 
  • Manages the process to submit IRC for consideration by charity rating organizations, serving as internal and external focal point 
  • Handles and organizes key products such as messaging documents, decks, media lists, etc. 
  • Contributes to quarterly reports on coverage and communications results using industry standard metrics and bench-marking.
  • Provides communications surge capacity across CMMO team when needed.

  • Internal: Work with global communications colleagues, writers, content creators, IRC advocates and fundraisers

Job Requirements 

  • Genuine excitement about IRC work and around creating and identifying profile building visibility opportunities.
  • 4+ years in Consumer and/or Brand communications in the UN, NGO or Cause-Marketing sectors.
  • Good understating of media landscape and comfort with pitching stories and writing statements, quotes, etc.
  • Understanding of the donor landscape in Asia, Europe and / or MENA region preferred. 
  • Experience working with faith-based organizations and / or gaming industry preferred 
  • A generalist who thinks about communications across channels, e.g., video, digital, social, internal and media and is able to connect the dots.
  • A planner and do-er, i.e., someone who has a consistent record of project management, taking initiative and driving implementation. 
  • Driven self-starter comfortable working with remote, global teams and in ambiguity 

Education: Graduate degree in a related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree required

Working Environment: 

  • Hybrid working environment with the option of working from home a few days a week.
