Job Description

The Senior Manager Operations – Accounting Services is responsible for managing and growing Smarter Good’s finance and accounting service line and building strong, impactful relationships with current and prospective client partners. S/he is comfortable acting as a business and thought partner for our clients and as a decision-maker for our accounting and bookkeeping team. The Account Manager is well-versed in client services, with experience working with CEOs, CFOs,  and senior leaders across a diversity of clients, preferably including those based in the U.S. S/he is ambitious about helping Smarter Good and its team meet its growth and impact goals and eager to stretch her/himself to learn and develop her/his own leadership skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and lead the standard for excellence for the service line 
  • Ensure close coordination with client service and operations teams in meeting impact and financial targets 
  • Conduct consultative business development with prospective clients, growing the service line significantly in the next three years 
  • Supervise and ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of client work across the following financial operations:
    • Processing of accounts receivable/payable, bank reconciliation, monthly closing and reporting; and
    • Preparation of cash disbursements, cash receipts, sales, and journal books of accounts
  • Supervise, coach, and develop staff to improve client relationships and communications, and to deepen and grow partnerships
  • Provide direct advisory and thought partnership to clients, as needed. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Interest in working for a double bottom line company that produces social impact
  • At least 10 years or more experience in Accounting and Finance, with at least 4 years of experience managing bookkeeping and accounting staff and teams
  • Possesses a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and end-to-end finance and accounting business processes and is able to lead cross-functionally and collaboratively to achieve the right outcomes. Experience in working with nonprofits (US 501c3 entities) and foundations is highly desirable. 
  • Client service experience with U.S. and global companies and organizations
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a CPA or equivalent
  • The highest degree of integrity and strong work ethic
  • Strong, clear, candid communication and presentation skills. Experience in consultative conversations to help prospective clients match their needs to our services, as well as skill in speaking with non-finance professionals, and supporting them to interpret and present financial information.
  • A sense of urgency and focus on producing high-quality deliverables and growing the business line and its impact
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
