Organizational Setting:

FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan is currently implementing “Support for Structural Reform and Strategic Development of Agrarian Services Agency” project under FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Programme. The project aims to support structural reform and strategic development of Agrarian Services Agency by enabling strengthening the delivery and effectiveness of the veterinary, crop protection, seed management and technical control services in the country.

Technical Focus:

Under the overall supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative in Azerbaijan (AFAOR), the direct supervision of FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program (FAPP) Management Specialist, operational supervision of Program/Operations Officer, the technical supervision of the Lead Technical Officer (LTO) of the project and technical experts and project personnel (national and international consultants), in close coordination with the national counterpart and the National Project Coordinator (NPC), the International Specialist on Biological Pest Control will provide the following support to the project: :

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Review and assess the existing procedures for the production of entomophagous insects in biological laboratories;
  • Provide guidance on modernization of methods of production of entomophagous insects in biological laboratories under the Central Laboratory;
  • Prepare and conduct one training for the biological laboratory staff on modern methods of production of biological control agents (entomophagous insects);
  • Prepare and conduct one training for the biological laboratory staff on biological pest control applications in the context of Integrated Pest Management.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements:

  • University degree on biology, agriculture or other related fields;
  • At least 7 years of experience in biological pest control and Integrated Pest Management;
  • Working knowledge of English.
