As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. For the Regional Office CEE/CIS/Middle East we are looking for a committed:

Regional Programme Advisor -

Alternative Care CEE/CIS/ME (F/M)

Location: Vienna

30-38.5 hrs/week

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development of quality alternative care programmes in the region
  • Provides expertise and builds capacity of SOS Member Associations in: different forms of alternative care services including foster care, small group homes, and SOS family care; methods of working with children with challenging behaviour and affected by trauma; and supporting states in child welfare reform and De-I process.
  • Monitors and supports the implementation of organisational and international quality standards, policies, and guidelines in SOS Member Associations, including evaluations and quality audits
  • Contributes to the development of organisational policies and guidelines

Requirements:

  • University degree education in social sciences, social pedagogy, psychology
  • At least 5 years work experience in the field of child protection and child welfare
  • Practical work experience in alternative care services, including foster care, small group homes, etc.
  • Expertise in quality assurance in alternative care services
  • Experience in supporting the process of deinstitutionalization and reform of the child welfare systems
  • Experience in project planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in organizing and holding workshops, meetings and trainings
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Russian or Arabic language skills are of advantage
  • Readiness to travel at least 30% of working time
