The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.
The subject internship position will report to the Office of the Director in the UNGSC in Brindisi (Italy). The internship is for 6 months, UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (37,5 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office where they are assigned.
The intern for the subject position will be responsible for supporting the Office of the Director team with assigned projects – assisting, in particular, with the delivery, implementation and scale-up of a project to define and institutionalize an appropriate model for supply chain management which balances the need for better sustainability performance and environmental damage mitigation and controls, while also acknowledging the imperatives for rapid deployment, light mission support footprints, cost-efficiency, circular economy considerations and sustainable legacies of the United Nations’ peace operations.
Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer in the Office of the Director, and in line with the established United Nations Rules and Procedures, the intern will be responsible for the following duties:
• Research, collect and compile information for use in the preparation and production of presentations, assessments and reports, often under tight deadlines;
• Input to publications, action plans and issue papers etc;
• Assist with drafting background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies;
• Assist with stakeholder engagement – by supporting planning and facilitating workshops, interactive consultations and working group sessions;
• Assist with the identification, management and tracking of statistics KPIs;
• Assist with ensuring adequate internal communication and information sharing while maintaining the office knowledge management base up to date;
• Support in the coordination of outreach activities, training workshops, seminars, etc. including assisting in the development of learning materials;
• Take on other special projects as assigned.

Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
- Be computer literate in standard software applications;
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English or French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the Internship.
Knowledge of French is desirable.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time (i.e. an intern is expected to work five days per week (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and there should be no expectation of employment within the UN after an internship.

Interns shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any position in the Professional or higher categories or at the FS-6 and FS-7 levels in the Field Service category during the period of the internship and the six months immediately following the expiration date thereof. "Sibling" includes a half-sibling or step sibling.
United Nations Considerations
According to article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.
