WHY WORK WITH WFP SOMALIA

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Under SDG2, a key focus area for WFP is to build sustainable food systems and value chains, to improve the availability, accessibility, affordability, and consumption of nutritious and healthy diets in Somalia and to prevent and reduce the impact of man-made and natural shocks on vulnerable populations. This position will support the implementation of WFP’s joint food systems project, working with smallholder farmers on improving agricultural value chains, with a focus on reducing post-harvest loss (PHL) and improving market linkages.
